This would be fucking great if true. Hulu is in need of some good exclusives. As long as they are given a good budget to work with I think that would be an awesome move for both Marvel and Hulu. Only thing i wonder is if it will be available through both Hulu and the Disney stream? Or maybe they will just keep all Mature content off of their own streaming service and use Hulu as an outlet for the mature content. Hope thats true.

Yeah I had the same question. Maybe they make Hulu and the Disney streaming service some kind of packaged deal down the line. I assume there will be a lot of that once that net neutrality shit kicks in. For y'all anyway.

'Avengers 4' Director Says Chris Evans "Isn't Done" With Captain America

When it comes to casting, there are few companies who get it right like Marvel Studios. Even since Robert Downey Jr. was tasked with playing Tony Stark, the studio has brought in just the right actors to play its heroes, so you can see why fans were upset when reports suggested Chris Evans is done with Captain America. However, thanks to a brand-new interview, it seems like the star has a bit more left to do with the hero.

Recently, USA Today shared an interview it conducted with Joe Russo, one of the directors on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. It was there the creator was asked about a previous tweet Evans made teasing his exit as Captain America, and Russo had the following to say:

“I think it was more emotional for him than it was us because he’s not done yet. I won’t explain what that means but fans will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Though Russo refused to expand on his statement, the tease has got fans curious as to what the director may mean. After all, reports have swirled for some time about Evans exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe once Avengers 4 wraps, but that might not be full story.

For anyone unfamiliar with the tweet which sparked the Evans’ exit debacle, it happened back in October. The actor took to Twitter to confirm his work on Avengers 4 was done, and the lengthy post seemingly saw the actor bid farewell to Steve Rogers.

"Officially wrapped on Avengers 4," Evans wrote. "It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful."

The melancholic post sent fans worldwide into a frenzy as they prepared to bid Evans farewell. However, the actor returned to social media shortly after to clarify his message wasn’t meant to tease Captain America’s fate in the MCU.

"I should clarify that I know I did tweet something that made a lot of people think that it was in someway a spoiler," Evans told fans at ACE Comic Con. "I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would have tweeted the exact same thing. That last day of filming was a very emotional day and it was the culmination of almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies, this unbelievable tapestry.”

Now, it seems there may be more nuance to Evans' future with the MCU than expected. Russo's comment does not confirm the actor will appear in future Marvel flicks beyond Avengers 4 ,but the upcoming blockbuster may leave a door open for more Steve Rogers down the line. For now, fans will have to wait and see what the movie has in store when it drops next summer.

'Avengers 4': The Russos Say They're Done With Marvel Until 'Secret Wars'

The Russo Brothers' love for Marvel's Secret Wars crossover is pretty well-documented at this point, but during a screening and Q&A tonight, Joe and Anthony Russo joked that following Avengers 4, the only way to get them back in the superhero movie business would be to give them Secret Wars.

Of course, don't count the possibility entirely out. At one point, Mark Hamill "retired" from being the voice of The Joker, saying that he would only return for Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's The Killing Joke -- which Warner Bros. Animation then made as an R-rated feature film.

The Russos, who made their name on projects like Arrested Development and Community before heading to the Marvel Universe, are already associated with a number of other comics projects, including Quantum & Woody and Deadly Class.

You can see a tweet from the event below.

One thing this does is remove the possibility (or at least greatly diminish the likelihood) of Secret Wars as the premise or title for the forthcoming, fourth Avengers movie.

Secret Wars was Marvel's first company-wide crossover, in 1984, and then the title was used again for a line-wide 2015 event. Based on the interview linked above, it seems likely that the movie they are talking about would adapt the 1984 series.

“Hopefully they’re about to get their hands on a few of [Fox's Marvel characters],” Russo said. “Listen, my second favorite character growing up, and one of my prized possessions in my comic book collection is Incredible Hulk #181, which of course is the first appearance of Wolverine. I feel like the mission of the Marvel Universe is to keep expanding and surprising people. Surprise them with casting choices, surprise them with story choices. If we’re moving into this world of crossover events, certainly that affords opportunity for other large-scale stories from the books like Secret Wars — which was another favorite comic of mine as a kid. There’s big potential moving forward if the Fox/Disney deal closes.”

The fact that Russo remembers the story so fondly from his childhood indicates that he must be talking about the original 1984 Secret Wars. That story saw the all-powerful being known as the Beyonder teleport several of the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes and villains to Battleworld where they could decide once and for all whether good or evil was the greater force.

The more recent Secret Wars event created a new Battleworld out of the remnants of several alternate reality timelines in the Marvel Comics multiverse. Some fans believe this story presents the perfect opportunity to fold Fox's X-Men cinematic universe, and perhaps the Fantastic Four, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Netflix Wanting To Shorten Marvel Show Seasons Was Reportedly Big Issue Leading To Recent Cancellations

Netflix and Marvel are moving towards a full-on split, and while there are a number of factors to blame for that, it appears that the number of episodes in each season is the main culprit.

We previously knew that it was one of those stressful factors between the two companies, but REDEF's Matthew Ball identifies the episode issue as the main reason why Netflix and Disney parted ways, leading to Netflix canceling Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, which started the cancellation spree.

Ball says Netflix wanted Disney to shorten the seasons, which would help alleviate one of the main issues Netflix had with them going forward. "10/ Netflix reportedly wanted to shorten the seasons, thereby reducing total spend and improving retention and quality (Netflix’s shows, especially the Marvel ones, are famously bloated). Reportedly from 13 eps to 6-8," Ball wrote.

While that might seem like a small adjustment, especially when the issue of bloated seasons is a well-known one by critics and fans, Disney has a different viewpoint.

"11/ Which means Disney would have to effectively reduce their revenue from 2/3rds, while keeping valuable characters unavailable for all other live action applications, while focusing on their own D2C. And while Netflix could force a renewal, they couldn’t do so at new terms," Ball wrote.

That means Netflix could've renewed all of the shows if it wanted to under the old deal, but if they wanted shorter seasons they would have to renegotiate, and Disney wasn't having it.

"12/ So Disney liked balked. The value wasn’t there for either party. It once was. And everyone is now tired of financing another party’s enterprise value growth – the economic incentives (cost minimization and upside maximization) drive vertical integration," Ball wrote. Fin/ In short, it just wasn’t working for anyone. Including most of the series’ original fans."

So in essence, Netflix wanted to cut spending and make the shows better, and for Disney, the value wasn't there to do those two things, especially when they could just use those characters in their MCU or self-created Disney + universe.

Honestly, this was probably going to happen eventually anyway, as Disney + will only grow to encompass more characters from Marvel in the future. Might as well get used to it now.

With the Shang Chi movie coming, and his connection to Spidey, I see DD as being the easiest to integrate into the MCU.
