The Official MCU Thread

RIP

It was coming though. I remember the people at Marvel Studios talking about how they got Stan to do a bunch of random cameos in advance just in case something like this happened.

Yo you all hear how either it was his care taker or personal assistant who was treating him like shit and ripping him off?

The news of Stan Lee passing really made my day a lot sadder. Like I posted in the other thread I’m happy he isn’t suffering anymore but it’s still sad he is gone.

I wish I could’ve met him at one of the comic cons before he passed but I did win some signed memorabilia though.

Ryan Coogler Reveals His Approach for 'Black Panther 2'

After Black Panther became one of the biggest box office hits of the year, and sparked a worldwide social movement, it was no surprise that Marvel Studios was quick to bring back writer/director Ryan Coogler for the film's sequel. Unlike the first movie however, Coogler knows that there is an added pressure this time around.

Not only does the filmmaker have to once again produce a great big-budget film with beloved comic book characters, but he also has the added challenge of keeping pace with the success - both critical and financial - of its predecessor.

While speaking with IndieWire this past week, Coogler talked about the added challenge of creating a sequel, something he has yet to do in his short career.

“I think the pressure is kind of always going to be there,” Coogler said. “I’ve had a chance to make three feature films, each one of them had its own very specific type of pressure. In the process of it, it feels insurmountable each time.”

Despite the added pressure, Coogler is sticking to his always-cool demeanor, focusing just as hard on Black Panther 2 as every other movie he's directed to this point.

“When it comes to making a sequel, I’ve never done it before, a sequel to something that I’ve directed myself,” he added. “So I think there’s gonna be a lot of pressure there, but what we’re going to try to do is just focus on the work, like we always do. Really try to go step by step and try to quiet everything else around us, really focus on trying to make something that has some type of meaning.”

As of now, Coogler has yet to begin work on the second Black Panther movie, and that likely won't take place until 2019. However, when the time finally comes, it sounds like Coogler will be ready for the challenge

I know it most likely will not happen but I hope the next villain is either Dr. Doom (which I know isn’t goin to happen because he will be saved for Fantastic 4) or Namor.

I think 1 of those two as the main villain and them having help from Achebe would be epic. It could be like a political thriller type of movie, in the vein of the Manchrian Candidate. Have Achebe some how corrupting Namor into thinking T’Challa Was the real cause of the battle in Wakanda during Infinity war which had massive affects to Atlantis which is not to far from the part of Africa Wakanda is located. Namor has a loved one who dies due to the Infinity War rub off and that causes or almost causes all out war between Wakanda and Atlantis. Achebe is doing all of this because alot of his people died during Infinity War and he blames T’Challa for opening up to the outside world. He also wants to gain control of Wakanda once Namor’s people have won.

I’m just spit balling but I think that would be an interesting way to approach the movie. Even if it is kinda similar to Winter Solider/ Civil War.

Lol Feige has been in control of the characters since Stan sold the Company to Disney. Hes had barely any input on the films. The films are in good hands.

When i was on FB i was seeing a ton of idiots say that his death was going to make the movies suck though. They dont know shit about shit.

So true. Stan ain't writing scripts. At most he was a consultant who influenced minor changes, if that.

I just did some reading and it looks like Stan was out of the picture long before the Disney Purchase. He's always been the godfather of the company, but it looks like when he took Marvel public he quickly sold off most of his shares and Marvel was in control by some other company since the 80s. I think he still owned 10% so Lee wasnt completely out of the picture, but he didnt have any control of anything. Part of his deal was he gets EP credit for films and video games. I wonder how much of that 4 Billion he got when Disney bought Marvel though.
