That was a flagrant 1. You can't tell me you believe those are the same degree of foul. On top of that, look how Caitlin handled it vs how Angel did. It's basketball. I actually respect that aspect of the WNBA game. Sometimes they seem a little more rough and tough with the game than the men (outside the playoffs).

What made it excessive? She didn't go for the head or neck. She didn't shove or try to undercut her in the air. She just chopped down for the ball. Again, take away Amber's flailing, and you've seen that foul a million times. Again, it's the level of four players always give when they want to make sure the opponent can't get the shot off.

Had they not called it a flagrant, that ref or the crew could've had games taken from them cause of the grade they would've gotten

Maybe, but I saw clips of a few former WNBA analysts that largely agree with me. This is a nonissue. Even if it was a flagrant 1, it was a typical basketball play and not deserving of the uproar it caused. Hell, Angel herself said that much after the game.

I still don't feel like that should be a flagrant foul, but if the rules say it is, then that's what it. No point in arguing that. Flagrant or not, it seems like most people agree it was a reasonable foul given the circumstances.
