It was flagrant

Flagrant doesn't mean intentional. It means excessive contact
That wasn't excessive though. I think you're being swayed by all that flailing Angel did. Caitlin chopped at her arms They basically tell you to give that level of foul to make sure the opposing player doesn't get an And1.

Remember DeShields' foul on Caitlin?

That was a flagrant 1. You can't tell me you believe those are the same degree of foul. On top of that, look how Caitlin handled it vs how Angel did. It's basketball. I actually respect that aspect of the WNBA game. Sometimes they seem a little more rough and tough with the game than the men (outside the playoffs).

I ref fam. I'm not sure what to tell you but that is a flagrant foul as it is excessive

Compare what she did to someone getting their hand caught in the cookie jar on the old harden swipe shot. It's excessive

It's not a black vs white thing

This also isn't street ball where you call your own fouls and are reluctant to do so in fear of them calling you soft

What made it excessive? She didn't go for the head or neck. She didn't shove or try to undercut her in the air. She just chopped down for the ball. Again, take away Amber's flailing, and you've seen that foul a million times. Again, it's the level of four players always give when they want to make sure the opponent can't get the shot off.

What you described is flagrant intentional

Yes Angel fell crazy, however, that doesn't negate what CC did in trying to do a take foul

Aight bro, I concede. Shit is just different I guess.

I was watching an old Knicks vs Suns game where Barkley slapped Oakley and was surprised he got ejected because it was open hand. lol Maybe I'm stuck in the past or something.

You are indeed stuck in the past my brother

No, a flagrant foul is not considered a basketball play. It is, by definition, an illegal and excessive act that goes beyond normal basketball actions. In the NBA and most leagues, flagrant fouls are categorized as

then u see niggas do it too smmfh

That's not a flagrant even today. It probably isn't a flagrant if its any two other players involved.
They've called flagrant fouls for less than that in the NBA.

Kevin McHale not walking through those doors man

Xavier McDaniel choking a player out not walking through those doors man

It's a flagrant which was properly assessed and everybody kept it pushing

Had they not called it a flagrant, that ref or the crew could've had games taken from them cause of the grade they would've gotten

Maybe, but I saw clips of a few former WNBA analysts that largely agree with me. This is a nonissue. Even if it was a flagrant 1, it was a typical basketball play and not deserving of the uproar it caused. Hell, Angel herself said that much after the game.

Oh I agree with you here but that hasn't been the issue at least imo

It was "that's not a flagrant foul"

It was and it's a non issue

I still don't feel like that should be a flagrant foul, but if the rules say it is, then that's what it. No point in arguing that. Flagrant or not, it seems like most people agree it was a reasonable foul given the circumstances.
