Stringer would have been able to transition out the game if Avon was still running things. Avon let Cutty out in the same situation. But, once Avon got hemmed up, there was no going back. Once Stringer got to play number 1 he was never able to slide comfortably back into the number 2 role that he was meant for. Too many away games.

But Avon? Nah, the king stays the king and that played out even when he had to be inside, had Stringer not been such a mark, Marlo never even happens.

Avon definitely got beat by Marlo. Marlo took his corners, his captain (Stringer didn't want a turf war, Avon didn't mind one), and then Avon becomes his proxy connect, talking about "Westside" unity. Marlo essentially crushed the Barksdale organization. The Barksdale name was pretty much done by season 5. Between McNulty, Omar, and Marlo, Avon was left with nothing but his name.

By the end of the show, even Marlo's reputation was fading. The king stays the king, but who plays the king is always changing. Its probably gonna be Kennard when he gets out of jail lol

Slim had that boy lined up. Just needed the conformation from Avon and the deed was done. So yeah Avon had that sewn up if not Benedict Bell.

That "Westside" shit was Avon siccing Marlo onto Prop Joe. Simple as that. Avon got Joe without lifting a finger. And he didnt have nothing crushed, Avon read Marlo like a book and knew he would flame out quickly, which he did. And who picked up the pieces Slim Charles of the Barslksdale organization. King remains the King.

Marlo never had rep. That was the whole point. He hid his work so well with the vacants, people aint even know him like that. That was his purgatory. He got what Stringer wanted when really what he craved was what Avon always had.

Yeah, Avon still King behind bars.... This time he got wee bay AND Chris on the inside.... He can easily re establish his empire from the inside with Slim Charles letting him call the shots on the outside. Charles puts Brianna back on the pay roll... She reaches out to family connections and brings in more muscle... This literally goes on in this city ... Look up the dude Tavon White... Avon was inspired by Little Melvin.... The preacher.. But he moves how most bosses would move in his situation. He absolutely becomes boss again when Slim shoots cheese.

Yeah that one. The one where they set up Orlando by misleading him into thinking they would sell him coke. Which he believed since... they did in fact have coke to sale.

But youre right... the biggest drug dealers in Baltimore who unified their entire territory by force unlike their cross town rivals who were vast and segmented to corners --- those guys didnt have cocaine to sell.

Because that is your point right? That the biggest drug dealers in the city didnt actually sell coke? Even despite the clear and obvious that did? Only prop joe was dealing in the work? Which he got....from New York. The very place that Brother Mouzone was threatening to cut Avon off from, that started this whole insipid conversation to begin with?! My nigga, I swear I'd draw you a picture if I could.

But yes, the biggest drug dealers in the whole goddamn show did in fact sell drugs.

He didn't need it, remember he had a connect but they got locked up and then another connect didn't fuck with Avon because they thought he was snitching to get that light sentence.
