Yall Into Emulation/Rom Hacks/Mods? The Thread

Sega Model 1 emulation is here….atleast with Virtua Fighter. Of course you can get the arcade experience with Virtua Fighter via MAME but what this Model 1 emulator aims to do is be closer to what the actual hardware from the original arcade board gave.

The devs are working on improving this and more games

I was gonna say... MAME been had Model 1 emulation, but I just fired up Virtua Fighter on the version I play with and it runs, but there's glitches.

This just forced me to update to a much newer version of MAMEUI64 from my ancient, but working, 12 year old build and the roms I have for VF 1-3 don't work.

I hate when I update something and it breaks shit

Unless there's something I really want to play that's not supported in the old version, I'mma keep using the old joint.

MAME is really good for that too. I had a version back in the late 90's that ran all of my favorite arcade games and I had working roms for all of 'em. They put out an update that broke every fuckin' game 'cause you needed completely new roms for and, of course, this was the point in time when a lot of ROM sites were getting shut down through legal actions (especially from Nintendo) so it was hard as shit to find the updated roms.

Like now, I just kept using the old shits. The games played flawlessly so I saw no reason to upgrade until roms were easier to find again.

I meant to post about this a couple weeks ago. It’s kinda emulation adjacent lol. I dunno if yall fuck with pinball but a new app recently dropped on the Google play store called Pocket Pinball. It lets you download and play virtual versions of real & user created pinball machines. This shit is so dope. The physics are really spot on too so it feels pretty true to the actual tables. I almost got lost in all the diff tables but I did download a couple.

I also downloaded this really dope one someone created for The Last Dragon but for some reason, the score keeping won’t work for me. All in all, I definitely fuck with it and recommend the app.

The cool shit I found with the app is that not only does it have a pretty decent in-app search feature, but you can also grab the .vpx files from damn near anywhere and just share the files to the app.

So you could sign up to a place like vpuniverse.com or vpforums.org & get what you need from there.

Rapid Fire

Space Station

The Black Knight

And I’m seein that there’s a def jam vendetta decomp on the way as well. And with that shit, they saying that folks will be able to mod characters and all types of shit

It’s up.

The port replaces the PC desktop backends (OpenGL + SDL2) with a hand-written Citro3D backend. The N64's display-list interpreter runs on the ARM11 and drives the PICA200 through its fixed-function TEV stages — no programmable fragment shader on the PICA, so each N64 colour-combiner formula is translated at load time into a chain of TEV stages.

Highlights:
• 45ish FPS on New 3DS (above the N64 original's ~20ish FPS)
• Native stereoscopic 3D — single-pass: geometry is submitted once and replayed per-eye with a clip-space shear uniform, so 3D is essentially free on the geometry budget
• Full N64 audio synth on a dedicated ARM11 core — the naudio/libultra stack runs on core 2 on New 3DS, so heavy frames never chop audio
• Eyespy fisheye lens and motion blur — implemented via render-to-texture (forward C3D target chains, no mid-frame FrameSplit)
• Distance fog via the PICA fixed-function fog unit
• ROM streaming on OG 3DS(untested on real hardware) — the 32 MB N64 ROM is demand-streamed off the SD card so it fits in original hardware's FCRAM

This is dope. Somebody ported Perfect Dark to the 3DS. I GOTTA test this shit when I get to the crib. I already have the android port downloaded on the Thor but the idea that this shit could run on a 3DS is just insane.
