Ironman put his career back on track but to say he wasn't big time before that is just asinine

Never said they were struggling but the MCU did help resurrect the careers of RDJ and Chris Evans, especially RDJ.

Y'all saying he wasn't a star before that, cut the bullshit.

Cosign..some of these folks thinking these movies help make them..no.

Especially the case with Robert Downey jr. He was already a star. All the iron movies did was Introduce him to a band of fans that probably wouldn't check for his movies otherwise..

It didn't just put his career back on track. Damn, for all the shit people like to talk about MCU fans, you dudes are going out of your way to misrepresent shit.

No Ironman did not give RDJ a name. He made his name back in the 80s, but your name doesn't mean anything if its blacklisted, and that's basically where RDJ was at. He could not get a job. Now you guys are trying to act like an 80s star who really hadn't worked on anything big or successful since the 80s was somehow a big pull in 2008? Please stop the bullshit. A fair number of the Ironman audience barely knew who the fuck RDJ was because they were either little children or were not even alive when he was actually relevant. When they were coming up this dude was getting fired from Ally McBeal and doing straight to DVD level bullshit movies. When he did Gothika, a low level shitty movie, they had to withhold 40% of his money just to make sure he didn't flake. lol That guy was not the Hollywood draw ya'll are making him out to be when he got the Ironman role.

Marvel made the careers of rdj Chris Evans, zoe saldana, vin diesel, Bradley cooper, Chris hemsthworth, Paul Rudd, Chris Pratt.... All of em....

They were struggling actors who couldn't find a good to save their careers before marvel came knocking

It's cool
I'll take my L

Speaking of L's. What about Sam Jackson. Did marvel create him too?

This is all false. Especially RDJ, and Zoe.

They where already solid actors and actresses before these movies came into play. That's why the directors for these films went checking for them.

Zoe did star trek before guardians right?

I'm asking cause I cant remember...

How many of those have you watched other than Natural Born Killers

Who cares about the Ironman audience, to say he wasn't an A lister before marvel is just wrong. Y'all acting like his whole filmography was wiped out pre 2008 and the only thing that matters is Marvel.

Yeah, Star Trek came out before GotG, but I think they were cast around the same time, so I don't think Zoe's appearance in either role affected her getting the other role.

That's not what anyone is claiming. People like Du are trying to claim that these movies are successful because of star power and that the MCU isn't really doing much for the actors themselves. That's factually untrue. Yes, RDJ was well known before Ironman, but act like his career before Ironman was on the same level as after or that his name alone was enough to somehow secure success for Ironman is just flat out lying.

Y'all saying he wasn't a star before that, cut the bullshit. Marvel didn't make him a household name, he was already that before Ironman

His star was dwindling before Ironman, which is why his last biggest movie was 10 years prior. IM was the start of his comeback. Yeah folks might have remembered him from Chaplin or US Marshall, but since then he was on career life support bcuz of his drug addiction. Which is why Marvel didn't wanna fuck w/ him to began with.

That's not the debate, Du said he was a nobody before Ironman and that's not true at all is what I'm saying. Ironman was his big return but that role doesn't define him

it most certainly defines him lol

dude is the highest paid actor out of everyone

getting almost $30M a film

he was technically the first face of the MCU as we know it today
