Should Certain Superheroes Remain White?

Race swapping superheroes only works if the actor/actress fits, like Samuel with Nick Fury. But that's a rare thing.

The tried to turn Blade white in the 90s, but fortunately Wesley won out. Existing or brand new non-white characters have WAY more impact. Give us more Black Panther, Falcon(not Brand new World shit), Shang-Chi, Storm, Luke Cage, Miles Morales, Ms Marvel, Cloak, Static Shock, Green Lantern(John Stweart) type projects.

This some coon shit
Besides the Black Panther race was never specified for most superheroes

Hell theoretically Superman should be black

They don’t hear you tho…

Look at this shit…

Yall gonna see Ironheart?
No one is watching that trash. Don't know why they skipped over Cheadle's Armor Wars project.

I only like race swapping when its an alternate or an extension like Miles or John Stewart where the character is original but based off a legacy character. I want more OG black characters like the ones mention since I know nothing about Blue marvel or Icon.

I understand some of the early ones like sam Jackson playing Nick Fury...

Sam is a great actor, a huge name, and it helped push the franchise forward.

But that's not always the case.

Also comics at their hearts are popular bcuz of the stories. There is enough representation in comics that races don't have to be switched for everything.. Especially if making that change isn't reflected in the story.

We don't need a black Superman or Batman. We don't need a black hulk or magneto.... Some of it is just too much...
They drew Nick like Sam in the early 90s... I remember being confused by the change when I was collecting comics in the mid 00s

They been doing that for decades and STILL skipped over them.

I'm still salty they used white Carol Danvers for Captain Marvel instead of Monica Rambeau, which would have made far more sense.

Why? Carol is more associated with Captain Marvel and Monica is more well known as Photon/Spectrum. They have both characters represented in the MCU. That's how it should be. Hopefully, they do more with Monica and don't have her story tied up in a quick scene in a future movie or something.

Because Monica held the name of Captain Marvel immediately after Mar-Vell died of cancer in '82. She had the name until the mid-90's (1996, IIRC), giving it to Genis-Vell our of respect for his father.

She was associated with the name far longer than Carol Danvers by the time the "Captain Marvel" MCU movie dropped, who herself only took up the name in 2012 in the comics.

Length of time is irrelevant though.

Carol was always Captain Marvel in the Ultimate Universe, and as we've noted before, the MCU borrows heavily from that. She was the 616 Captain Marvel when they started making the movie. And they had plans for Carol and Monica to eventually team up. Whenever they've done that, Carol was Captain Marvel and Monica was Photon/Spectrum/Binary or some other alter ego.

I don't know why you would want her to take on the role of a legacy characters when she's got like 3 personas that are all her own.

You said
Carol is more associated with Captain Marvel

Which is false. You can't have a comic history that spans 14 years and be less associated with the name over a character that was largely known as Ms Marvel (until Rogue stole her powers), then later as Binary during the same time Monica was still known as Captain Marvel. Even when she became Captain Marvel, Carol had been back on the Ms Marvel name.

I say it's irrelevant because from the MCU standpoint, nobody really cared what was happening a decade before a movie was even conceived. They chose based more on what feelings were at the time they were coming up with the concept. They started development for the movie in 2013. At the time, Ultimate Marvel was still active and Carol was Captain Marvel in that universe. Carol had a solo where she was Captain Marvel in the 616 universe. Carol was in and out of the Avengers comics in some big storylines as Captain Marvel. Carol was showing up in video games and TV cartoons as Captain marvel during that time. The Ultimates comic was actually running while they were producing the Captain Marvel movie and Carol and Monica were teammates with Carol being Captain Marvel. I don't know what to tell you. At the particular time that the movie was being developed, if you asked any random Marvel fan who was Captain Marvel, they would have said Carol.

Then by your logic Captain America in the MCU should have started out as Bucky Barnes 'cause at the time the first Cap flick was in development, he was Captain America, and had been Cap for a bit, not Steve Rogers.
