On a live edition of his Grilling JR podcast today (May 26), Jim Ross gave us a more specific date for the surgery he told us about along with his diagnosis — it’s tomorrow morning. He said surgery is “always stressful”, but that he’s prepared himself “mentally and physically to endure the situation”.

Phone calls from some well-known friends helped with mental piece:

“I was at home and I got a call from Steve Austin. And when we got off the phone, I looked at my phone and we talked for 43 minutes. 43 minutes. And here’s what your friends do. They call you, they talk to you, and at the end of the conversation, they tell you they love you. That’s what Steve did. So that’s what I got. And that cheered me up. And it made me feel strong and vibrant.
“Tony Khan called me, which was nice. You know, the Khan family has done an amazing job of taking care of JR since I signed with their company. He’s very talent friendly. Maybe too friendly at times.”
JR says he plans to slow down after the surgery, which he described as being less invasive than a traditional operation*. Since his recovery time is only expected to be about a week, Ross said he still hopes to “make a few autograph appearances, which I love to do, and see what Tony Khan’s got ready for me in AEW.”

“I could still do my schedule I had, but I don’t know if anybody else believes that. I believe it. I still would love to do the pay-per-views in AEW, but I don’t know if Tony will want me on, I don’t know.”
Would that include being at All In Texas, July 12 at Arlington’s Globe Life Field?

“Hell ya, I think so. Why not?”

JR need to sit his old ass the fuck down.

I’m not surprised JR doing what he’s doing. His wife is gone and he probably still doing all this to stay busy. Sad thing is I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out JR passes away within a year or so of him finally calling it quits.

WWE doesn’t have Asuka back.

The decorated former women’s champion, Royal Rumble winner Asuka has been out of action since early May when she lost the WWE Tag Team Titles. Unfortunately, we’re told that Asuka is still sidelined, after following up at the request of many subscribers.

We’re told that when Asuka was injured, WWE was pretty sure she’d miss the rest of 2024, and the 2025 WrestleMania. When Fightful asked about Asuka’s status ahead of WrestleMania, we’re told that there wasn’t serious consideration for her as she was still injured.

We have heard that creative ideas for her eventual return were discussed in recent months, but that it wasn't “imminent." They were surprised that her creative plans were being brought up that early.
