Released on February 10th 2017, this was the 6th studio album from Lupe. I may be wrong but I don’t remember much buzz about this album going into it, but this is considered his weakest album to date. Let’s see how it holds up today.

Track 1. Dopamine Lit (Intro), produced by Soundtrakk. Not feeling this. It’s not terrible either. 6/10

Track 2. NGL featuring Ty Dolla $ign, produced by SX, solid track. Good message over a mainstream sounding beat to make it palatable. 7/10

Track 3. Promise, produced by Soundtrakk, I’m not feeling this one here. I’m not liking the direction of this album so far… 5/10

Track 4. Made In The USA featuring Bianca Sings, produced by Street Runners. This was the 2nd single. He is talking about being a proud American but I’m not feeling this beat at all. 5/10

Track 5. Jump featuring Gizzle, produced by Soundtrakk. This was the 3rd and final single. This beat sucks. So far the worst song on here. Gizzle outshined him on this 🤦🏿‍♂️ 4/10

Track 6. City of The Year featuring Rondo, produced by B Sides. Good message but a trash beat. 5.5/10

Track 7. High featuring Simonsayz, produced by Simonsayz. This is the first decent song on here since the 2nd track. 6.5/10

Track 8. Tranquillo featuring Rick Ross and Big K.R.I.T, produced by Floss and Flame. I didn’t like Krit’s verse on here but otherwise a good track, no complaints. 7/10

Track 9. Kill featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Victoria Monet, produced by D’Mile. I like this one. Pretty smooth track. The best song on here. 7.5/10

Track 10. Law featuring Simonsayz, produced by Floss and Flame. I’m not feeling this one. 5/10

Track 11. Pick Up The Phone featuring Eric Turner produced by iSHi. This was the first single. This song sucks. Who was he making this for? His audience don’t want to hear this from him and the people he’s reaching out to probably don’t care either. 4/10

Track 12. It’s Not Design featuring Salim, produced by Simonsayz and B Sides. This sounds like some Jamiroquai shit. It’s not terrible but I don’t like Lupe on this. 5.5/10

Track 13. Wild Child featuring Jake Torrey, produced by Simonsayz. Kohls commercial ahh song. 4.5/10

Track 14. More Than My Heart featuring Rxmn and Salim, produced by 808 Mafia. I like this one here. A song he dedicated to his mother. 7/10

This album had its moments but not a single great song was found on here ,unfortunately. Lupe would bounce back a year later with DROGAS Wave. But this was a dud, too many outdated 2008 sounding ass songs, and too many pop sounding records for no reason at all. It’s like he’s trying to recreate Superstar. 5.5/10

Serious question

Are you not familiar with the story behind this album and why it sounds just like you described?

But to your larger point, dopamine was/is my shit but that's it

Learn me something
He was fulfilling an album contract obligation and they wanted him to try and recreate superstar. It was more apparent on Lasers which is why you ended up with Show Goes On. They were not going to release projects if he didn't make songs they wanted him to make so he just started putting shit together to get out the deal

Tetsuo and Youth and Drogas Waves I believe were the first two projects after he got out his deal with Atlantic which is why they sound night and day from the projects that came before it.

I'll have to double check but even he said Drogas light was some bullshit

You think that’s an excuse to put out this album?

He had no choice. It’s why Drogas Wave sounds drastically different. He made these 2 albums at the same time. With Drogas Lite he intentionally made an attempt at a trap album the label was forcing him to do. Had he never put this out we wouldn’t have gotten Tetsuo and everything that came after

He had a choice. Starts by picking better beats.
