COMMUNITY Jubilee presents...

So with this opinion we needed a white savior to protect us from our own decision making? The people in the Gulf Coast region could pick any music they wanted, and decided they liked Cash Money's music. And even after it's promoted, the rest of the world can listen to any music they want instead. But we needed a white executive to come in to correct us, and tell the world what music/interests they needed to be into instead?

And my point was if you think helping the spread of the music was wrong, then you should think the police arresting the artists and distributors for making/selling the music was a good thing.
Man no

C'mon b

My wife and me tried to watch it but couldn't get through it. Some of the things that the conservatives were saying just rubbed us the wrong way.

I'm being for real. Like if that's your stance, you should've supported the police when they were arresting rappers for being obscene. If labels are wrong for helping it spread, cops are right for stopping it.

To me we (mostly) make the music, and we listen to the music. I'm not gonna blame someone else for investing in its growth. That's dodging responsibility to say "Well they should have said no".

I have seen a few clips on Twitter. I don't know if I can stomach the whole thing though.

Regarding the music thing, the record companies were at first following the audience. They actually had to be nudged to fully embrace the negative turn in hip hop. There was once a time when there was a sense that the more authentic artists weren't being signed and honored, and the major record companies were criticized by many blacks for that. People were disappointed when Will Smith won a grammy in 1999 instead of the Mobb Deeps of the world.

So let's not do hip hop revisionism and blame the record companies when the blame belongs elsewhere.

Hell no to both of y'all

It's true. Shit, look at all the love and praise Malice got on the Clipse album and how nobody gave a shit about him when he switched to positive Christian music. Same guy, same talent. Different content.

The people drive what music is big. Not the labels. And the people don't like positive rap as much.

Why you trying so hard to avoid the responsibility of music going to the musician?
