OPINION Is Marvel's Black Panther movie really a "special moment" for Black America??

i typed so much more, but i deleted it.

like seriously, has a fictional movie ever reshaped world history before?

Wakanda just surpassed all African Nations in the minds of actual Africans.......

well atleast that one African...

Birth of a Nation

The CaC one not the Nat one.

That's the first bad review that caused all the problems. I don't really know what to make of it. It doesn't really seem like a review. He basically just gave a synopsis of the story and then said there wasn't enough superhero type action in it. It could be his honest opinion or it could be a BS review meant to lower the score. Either way, people shouldn't have gotten so worked up about it. No movie gets a 100% rating.

Bruh if I was in his shoes i wouldn't give a fuck and sell the shit at all costs as well.

Quick examine.... Homie here shopped my face on some African dude as a joke for this movie... While funny, I'd never post that on social media, because I would consider it offensive to my multiple African friends.

I joke about a lot, but I don't kick folk culture. More specifically I don't mock African culture.

And a lot of these folk over doing it appear ignorant to be, cuz it looks like a mockery.

Maybe I am making too much of it, but I feel like if I was Nigerian and saw my friend rocking garments from my country completely oblivious to where it came from simply to support a movie, I'd side eye homie.

Here we been cool for a minute and you never once showed interest in my culture, but cuz this movie is the latest trend all of a sudden you afican'd out.

But whatever... Like I said... Maybe it's me....

But yeah of course dude wants everybody to look past real shit just to see his movie.... The bottom line is his pocket

But that's kinda the conversation he's talking about in the movie though right. While I can see you how an African might feel a certain way about African Americans trying to "dress African" for the movie. The point is, it should be an opening for the two groups to connect rather than oppose. The African has to understand that many African Americans long for that connection back to Africa and will do anything just to feel a sense of belonging, so rather than get mad the African can just start a dialogue and build with the African American about the cultural significance of the clothing or whatever the case may be.
