OPINION Is Marvel's Black Panther movie really a "special moment" for Black America??

Blade got a standing ovation and kicked all of the Marvel movies off, so how can you say BP wasn't going to get the attention? Stop it fam.

Brah...you think Angela Bassett takes that role during that time? If not her, then who? Who would give that movie some credibility?

It was NOT going to get the attention that its getting now from the writing to the production, to the actors

stop with the revisionist history man

I was just happy to see a movie with black celebrities as superheros/villians

Everybody made a good point behind the scenes aint that desirable to some when it comes to entertainment though

@King Du this is one of the actors in the movie dressed as a REAL Black Panther... Not a 'fictional' one. What you think :)

No Wesley Snipes wanting it back then was the right time. Don't dismiss Wes like that.

Nah, I'm going to have to disagree with that time being right for BP. Think about it for a second. Black Panther now is a movie with mostly black cast, a black producer, a black director, and several black writers. You really think they would have pushed a movie like that back then the way they are now? Hell, the only reason they are doing it now is because the movie has the power of the MCU behind it and BP got a push from being in Civil War.

Blade worked back then, but that was because it only had a black lead and wasn't really about black people. By all accounts, BP is steeped in blackness and African culture. Even now, you can't just throw a movie like that out there and expect it to be successful. Hollywood ain't built like that. George Lucas said that shit when he put Red Tails out. He said he was afraid to put the movie out because with the way Hollywood is, if the movie bombed, it could hurt the chances of other similar movies being made.

I'll just leave this here

@King Du is gonna be furious lol.

But I'll say this, after this type of reception and buzz for a fictional movie, if these miggas don't push the next installment of Hidden Colors to get a theater release...imma be just as mad as Du.

Tariq already dropped a movie called 1804 which is about the Hatian Revolution. No one talked about it.

Also I saw Hidden Colors 4 in the theater. What Tariq does is get the film to play for one day at small theater. When he is getting ready to drop a movie, check out the website for it to see if it's playing in your area.

i even understand where he coming from,

there's so many other ways he could have worded that...dud could have said i'm looking forward to the scenery , the culture, and the imagination behind an African country that was never spoiled by outsiders....

like just acknowledge it as imagination, fantasy...

might as well put this shit in fucking history books, and just say we can't find it cuz the barrier, but here's pics from the movies....
