I liked it. They're obsessed with a show that they see themelseves in more than they do in real life. Its an allegory to the queer or trans experience. Theres a great monologue from the female lead character. I think they're alluding to Owen (Justice Smith's character) being gay but they never show anything besides him being obsessed with "a show for girls" as his dad says
