That was the hardest part for me to understand. Others can correct me, but as I understand it, not a piece of the attacking player can be past the last defender when the ball leaves the passing players foot.

Not sure though if there are exceptions say, if the passing player or receiving player is behind the half field mark.

They don’t call it the same every time though to your point.
