Fan Posts A Question : What Down South Artist Can Go Bar For Bar With Jadakiss?

Ahhh yes....tha good ole “NYC v down south” hip hop convo lol...I remember tha days of missin’ class and eventually calling out from work a few years later after a simple statement made usually at a barbershop by someone giving either side a compliment lol I’d be hoarse for a few days after arguing about this very subject for sometimes as long as 8-10 hrs....full days at tha shop, usually outnumbered in my case, bein’ an Ny cat down south in SC, spent red faced and agitated over a simple topic like music lol...back then if you weren’t Outlast or Goodie Mob and you were from below tha Mason Dixon line...I didn’t have 1 good thing to say bout u...didn’t matter WHO TF you were lol

I’m older now tho and respect and really like a good number of spittaz from tha South....but as far as for tha topic at hand...I think of Jada as tha epitome of being a punch line/barz heavy STREET lyricist...and while I do think there are plenty of dope ass lyricist from tha south I don’t know of any that specialize in that sort of spittin’... maybe somebody like Cyhi but even he don’t do this basically ALL tha time like Kiss...

Facts when you compare different styles and regions its weird because of what each region finds important. Like if you ask what NYC rapper can drop club songs like 36?

Awesome bro. I can't argue with that. Kiss is definitely fire. I guess I just like SP better. But I had similar experiences arguing about who the better MC's were. It's fun. No one takes anything personal. Everyone's opinions are respected.

And I grew up down south with the Miami Bass Music, so I had a lot to learn when I grew up and started being exposed to different types of music. Bro, I remember the first time I heard true 'Go-Go' music when I was in D.C. It sounded like someone was banging together soda cans and beating on a door with a bat. But it was so cool. Like you said, we grow up and appreciate things more.

That's true bro. I was in the 'C.R.E.A.M.' thread making this very point. I remember when Wu-Tang first hit. I had the cassette. Me and my peoples were arguing about who the best member was. I fell in line with Raekwon, and my ace felt Inspektah Deck more. The crazy thing is, I was in Cali when they came out, so I was being exposed to that music scene as well. E-40, Alkoholiks, Souls of Mischief. Man, the mid-90's was a seriously hyped time for hip-hop. Black Moon. But I was also listening to other types of music.

Ya'll don't clown me too hard, but I still rock to this song. They ruled the airwaves in 1994.

Nah....Styles in my top 8 lol....I got him all day over Kiss...but Jada’s known for bein’ “lyrically top 5 DOA” and even tho it’s kinda “self imposed”, it’s never really dismissed because he’s proven to be tha best at what he does and it just so happens NY/East Coast has waaay more that are similar Jada that you can compare to and challenge (Fab-Cassidy-Banks type cats) ,than does tha South....in MY opinion of course....and he better than them so he gotta be better than anybody from tha South that supposedly has “bars”...like Luda lol

My man! We'll go down with the ship together. I have heard the same thing you mentioned. When I hear or read that, I'm like 'Kiss ain't even the best in his own group'! But again, just my opinion. When SP came out with the below video, it was a wrap for me.

I guess this video (and Styles) speaks more to me because I was in the military, so pull-ups was an everyday struggle.
