COMMUNITY Fair/ Foul: Are BLK folks currently portrayed in enough of a positive light on Television/Streaming to you right now?

Are we just looking at so-called "black shows" or how black people are being included and represented across the board? Because that difference moves the needle.

We have way more positive black representation now in front of and more importantly behind the camera and it's not even really debatable. We have black producers, directors, writers, actors and all that.

Sure you're not gonna get as many corny cliche sitcoms based on a BET ComicView bit but go watch The Neighborhood if you need that thrill.

Yall keep watching power spinoffs

Blame yourselves
Yea it really is this. It’s like people saying female rap is trashy, and they just hear Sexy Red and Glorilla. But there are other female rappers that do more than that. People will be like, well I don’t hear that on the radio or see that on social media. And the answer to that is, that says more about you than it says about the overall lack of alternatives. Truth be told.

Rhapsody, lil simz and Jean Grae, artistically make better music. You just aren’t motivated to hear it. Music and Media like most things in life, hold the same virtue. Quality is not abundant. You have to put in work to find it. You have to be in a certain mindset to enjoy it. People go to the club every other night and say good men and women don’t exist anymore. That’s just a place of abundance, it’s not a place that breeds quality.

You can’t enjoy quality, if you have trash tastes.

Young woman is going viral after questioning the disappearance of positive Black TV shows from modern television, noting, ‘It was very important to inspire people and kids. We don’t have that anymore.’ 📺 👀 🤔

True, black family TV now is just a constant ocean of depression and lack of hope... just to keep folks angry, hell just look at the Reboot of fresh prince.

Back in the day we had shows that dealt with serious things, but didn't make it the whole thing... they were wholesome for the whole family to watch.

You'll notice damn near every single show listed here is a sitcom. A genre of TV that doesn't really exist anymore.

I’m sure there’s a few more positive shows out there but I don’t watch that shit cause I’m a bad person

Yeah, sitcoms aren’t as popular and nobody wants to see a hour long drama show of happy people being moral
