That’s the big stakes? Why would
a depowered Supergirl
make me more interested in seeing this? lol

I think they will have her depowered in this movie and that may be one of the similarities to the book. Superman already said she spends a lot of time out in places with red suns so she can party as the yellow sun is what gives kryptonians their strength. Trailer has already shown us she is away from earth and most likely our solar system.
 
The story from the comics essentially gives you a tutorial on how kryptonian powers truly work. Like how they work under different suns, and how powerful they are even when depowered.

You'll understand better how strong him and Kara really are after this

You have to build out your world with the heavyweights then you can experiment with lesser-known characters. That's like if Marvel had decided to do GOTG or Antman after Iron Man

it is weird that supergirl is getting her own movie so quickly and you’re getting a clayface movie before Batman 2

Supergirl being the 2nd film in Gunn’s universe is a strange decision. Like @Infamous114 said that’s like if Marvel followed up Iron Man with Ant Man or The Eternals.

Gunn’s Superman was cool but it didn’t set the world on fire. I know there’s complications with tryin to use Batman but following Superman up with Supergirl & Clayface is a wild gamble that feels like an L already

For all of that they coulda just made the Lantern show an actual film & have that follow Superman

Saw the new trailer during HeMan. I got my ticket for a great seat in imax even though my theater has the fake imax so as soon as the dolby cinema is available then I'll grab that

Its going to be fucking wild if CLAYFACE is more successful than Supergirl. Neither are what I'd consider major characters for DC, but i still would think Supergirl would be the more successful movie.

Hoping its successful and they can get this DC shit off the ground. Like him or not, I do like that DC finally has their own studio and can do what Marvel has been doing without the parent company all in their shit like when the DCEU was trying to happen.

Its been rocky and i do understand the criticism gunn has had by taking all these B list or C list misfit characters and trying to push them out first. Should have just focused on the core Justice League then branched out. At this rate if we ever get a justice league movie under this DCU its going to be some team we've never seen before in the comics.

That happened with Avengers as that movie team was never a comic book team, but still a majority of those characters were at least long time members of the comic avengers.

Gunn needs to let other directors and producers do films. That was the genius of the MCU. Let each franchise have its own tone. I hadn’t checked for the Clayface trailers and news so maybe that will be different.

Either way, I’m all for trying new things and not copying the MCU, but Gunn’s direction so far doesn’t seem to be the right move. I’ll give him grace for a couple more movies though.
