Can you be "woke" and date white people?

Given that Maya Angelou's iconic stature and messages about bringing black folks together...she married a white man.

Should have folks looked her differently?
 
I mean... while those two guys may have played ultra black characters they aren't really activists... they're fuckin actors..so who they decide to be with is of no consequence to me..


Now if Malcolm X or Martin married white women id prolly feel a bit conflicted about the situation lol

You cant make a song like that and at the same time have a bar that says “why my diesel have fiends in the spot on the floor for days”

Felt like that was a spit in the face of all the shit he was trying to insinuate in the song

I hear ya.. but someone thats paid to act like someone else for a living just happens to play a super black character can no longer fuck with any non-black women in their personal lives?? thats the rule now?

Im not advocating dating white chicks... personally that aint my thing but im not about to hate on these cats for doing so

in the same breath... maybe bringing a fuckin neon transparent white chick to the blackest movie ever wasn't the best idea *shrugs*

Even if that's the case, why wear a dashiki to the movie premier? They had to know that shit would be a bad look with white women under their arm.

Meh...I mean I feel the message they drop about equal rights for our people...but it is a tad hypocritical when you're married to the thing you're raging against.

But quite frankly it's not a big deal to me.

I tend to fall on the same side of the argument as you fam.. end of the day.. folks gonna love who they love... optics be damned. I aint bout to hate on nobody for the person they choose to be with
 
I try and be open minded and think nothing is wrong with it. But really its just weird. It just looks funny. Im not saying a person in an interracial relationship cant contribute to the community. Alot of black leaders had those relationships after they were with other black people.
 
It contradicts everything there is about being pro-black. If you have even the slightest knowledge of black history in this country you know that the white woman has been one of the biggest catalyst in our oppression and the nearly 60% of white women in this country voting for Trump shows that their disdain for black people still exist. Everything from Emmett Till to the fall of Black Wall Street was sparked by the hands of a white woman.
 
One thing i agree with that scam artist on is that u can’t be pro black for the advancement of blacks and date or marry others
