Are You Participating In Today's National Blackout?

You just made this scenario up out of thin air. Anyone moving like this is an idiot.

Nigga... I already proved this shit!!! I posted a news clip of Black folks out here mobbing a Target north of Detroit the other day. And I got folks on my FB timeline talmbout how they stocked up earlier this week so they didn't have to spend today.

I ain't gotta lie to kick it.

Like I said Detroit citizens and your fb friends are fucking idiots then.

Target can kick rocks. I didnt really patronize that store like that in the first place so its not much effort for me to not step foot in there again
Walmart is the same for me. Not sure if some folks know that Sams Club is also owned by Walmart.

Amazon would be a bit more challenging to boycott but it wouldn't be impossible

I can't imagine people NOT knowing Sams Club is owned by Walmart.

I was listening to DL Hughley radio show and this is exactly what ppl were saying.

They bought their stuff the other day so they wouldnt spend money today

Lol

there are ups and down in retail everyday of every week. They do not care. A less busy friday evens out with a busy Saturday. Every day is ups and downs but it all ends up being profit profit profit for big business.

Fwiw I thought Freeman nailed it with his post on the other page. Was trying to think of another example to try and help drive the point for some but it seems like y'all are going to be intentional about not understanding what he was saying

what other page?

The solution is not a one day boycott. The solution is to stretch it out for as long as possible. As @GOAT already said: One day is meaningless to these billionaire corporations, especially if the people stocked up by shopping at these very same stores in the lead-up to the boycott. Shit, this week could turn out to have been even MORE profitable for them because of that alone. What needs to happen is an extended absence from these places; boycott them for months. Let earnings drop off the map for a whole quarter and see what happens; better yet, 6 months to a year. But niggas are too comfortable to go without for that long or to spend a lil extra by shopping Black and local.

We could even extend it further by not shopping with them parasitic leeches in our communities: Indians, Aye-rabs, and Chinese/Koreans.

I have no problem with unifying, but do it the right way and for the right reasons. This shit here is neither.
NIGGAS NEED PRACTICE. We need to PRACTICE going a whole day without spending money. We need to PRACTICE breaking certain habits. That morning latte is a ritual to too many folks. So we start with one day. THEN reset and we try for two days. THEN maybe a a week or so. THEN boycott some establishments altogether. That's just on an individual level.

We gotta PRACTICE coming together on it. We gotta PRACTICE getting word out. We gotta PRACTICE clarity and consensus. This ain't a committee meeting up and planning this, it's a bunch of people talking on their smartphones. Unifying ain't gonna be like it was back then. But if we can't get this one day right, ain't shit gonna go beyond that.

Just spend it on our own, problem solved.

What im realizing is that those posters most likely weren't going to participate regardless of how the plan was laid.

Same as the "don't vote" crowd. Niggas just want to justify themselves not giving a shit about anything and most likely weren't going to vote anyway.

Then go the whole day but, dammit, don't go fucking spending that same money with the same fuckin corporations days before or in the days after!!! You didn't do shit if you do!!! There's math to this shit and y'alls ain't adding up!

As for practice, c'mon! We've had ample time to practice.

Folks still out here buying eggs.
Portions are smaller and prices are higher, but folks are still buying shit.
Black folks still going to Cracker Barrel and Denny's.
Black folks still buying Gucci, Prada, Dolce and Gabana, and other brands that have made it clear that they don't fuck with us.
Shit, that whole one day boycott back in, what was it... June or July of 2021??? Word got out for that one didn't it??? Shits was all over social media wasn't it?

And I can keep going on. We've had opportunity after opportunity after opportunity to do this shit and when people speak up on it we get clowned or outright ignored. Like I said in that thread about egg prices, I said something about it and even explained that if we stopped buying them shits, thus affecting supply and demand like we leaned in social studies or economics classes back inna day, the prices would drop off. Coupla y'all was even trying to explain how eggs SHOULD be more expensive! Then come to find out it was clear cut price gouging and it was crickets.

Lol. So actively doing the same thing to people participating today does what exactly?
