2026 NBA Offseason Thread

Am I the only one not seeing the vision with a Giannis and Tatum team up?

On paper it looks amazing. One of the best perimeter players teaming up with one of the best inside players.

But knowing both of their games, I don't see how it works out. Brown and Tatum scarier imo cause if they get hot, Celtics can beat anyone.

I think Brown and Tatum have a higher floor dye to Giannis missing games but I would do this if its pretty much Brown ro Giannis straight up and you're not giving up a bunch of other stuff

If for nothing else its a great opportunity to do diversify your roster/gameplan a bit and spread that money around a little more

As great as Tatum and Brown are they are a bit redundant skillset wise and you have to be able to switch it up and go to something else eventually especially with the way the league is forever changing

This Iverson vs Brunson thing is really trending and it's silly. I won't even get into it.

What I do find funny is, they keep bringing up the tired narrative of AI dragging scrubs to the finals. Those scrubs were the DPOY, 6MOTY and COY. So if those scrubs were able to win these awards, wouldn't it be safe to say that the East was weak af during this time and that weakens Iverson case?

I say all that to say this. Let niggas have their moment. Not everything needs to be up for debate. One had his time and the other is having his time. We as fans win.

I hate this is how NBA discourse is designed now

Can't prop up another player without putting another player down unnecessarily

I don't disagree but we've seen Giannis with a primary ball handler in llilard and it didn't work.

Now you can say Bucks didn't have enough shooters around them or you can say that was on llilard and not Giannis. I'll actually agree to both.

But that said, when you have two players that are ball dominant but play on the perimeter, thats like 4-5 seconds of dribbling max and they either make their move or pass the ball.

With Giannis though its a give him the ball and get the fuck out the way.

I agree with everything you and @Freeman said. On paper I think they work out perfectly. But in reality they both need the ball in different ways and places and both are injury prone now (hope Tatum bounces back fully and this ain't the case)

To me when you look at it as a whole, Celtics more scary with the 2 guys they already won with than with Tatum and Giannis having the need to figure it all out.

I think its a few differences between this and the Lillard situation

Mozzarella >>>>>Griffin/Rivers
Having Payton Pritchard/Derrick White to actually play point guard should help
Dame being a small guard who sucks on defense and close to being washed....Giannis is only 2 years older than Tatum so its still the same timeline

They very well might not figure it out and doesnt work but I think its worth trying....the league is evolving and getting bigger, Im not mad when a team decides to proactive and go for it

Neither of them are injury prone. Both have played 70+ games more in their career than not and neither played less than 60 before this season.

Not sure how you can watch what the Celtics did this year and think its not going to work with 2 superior players. Giannis and Middleton already happened. This is that on steroids.

If...and its a big if....but if Giannis is willing to play some minutes at the 5 and Tatum at the 4....That 4/5 pick and roll is going to be unstoppable
