It doesn't matter he's behind him. He does not have nor does he establish good rebounding position. He forces contact to try and get the rebound.

Think of it like this. Why do you think the defense gets to have 4 people lined up in the lane while the offense has two. I'm not counting the shooter but let's say you do. That's 4v3. The offense is the one with the opportunity for "free" points. The defense has more people because it's not intended for the offense to have the same equal odds for the rebound which is why 99% of missed free throws are rebounded by the defense

Then if you don't call that and flagg ends up tapping it to a teammate, you've penalized Houston for having better rebound position
