‘Heat 2’ Is On: Michael Mann Crime Drama Moves From Warner Bros. to United Artists

It's based on the book he'd already written which has the story of how both lead characters got started...

I don't know if he actually wanted to make a movie about it or was pushed by studio heads especially if they acquired screening rights to the novel
Don't defend him, dilla. He shouldn't call it heat 2 in book or movie form. He should call it Heat: The Beginning or something. You don't call something 2 when it was technically before 1!

If you read the OP ...

The story is before and after the story of the OG movie

So it's a prequel and sequel of sorts

Ohhh okay. A little razzle dazzle I believe it's called. It's pushing it, but I guess that's okay as long as they also have the characters after the events of the first story.

First one's overrated af, ill check this out tho
This is overrated but Scarface isn’t?

Just finished reading this today for the first time after buying it after three years...

Hell of a thriller... Yeah there's a movie to be made out of this no doubt

However, there's two factors I think that will make of break the success of this movie

1. Mann's age: man's in his 80's and I don't know if he'll have the physical energy to encompass this story into film, multiple locations and big shootouts a car chases spread around three distinctive years 1988, 1996 and 2000...

Also Mann hasn't made a proper hit movie since Collateral over 20 years ago...

He wrote the book so I'm hoping he'll do his best to produce a hit movie

2. Casting of actors: obviously DeNiro and Pacino are too old so there has to be a new cast of all the characters since the first movie was released 30 years ago...

The character played by Val Kilmer is the main protagonist in this book... Someone has to capture that cold weirdo aesthetic of 'Chris' in his youth and older (It was reported that DiCaprio wants the role and has reached out to Mann)

My take for casting would be
Vince Hanna - Colin Farrell
Neil McCauley - Oscar Isaac
'The Boss' - Vince Vaughn

Great crime thriller

4/5

P.S:
If you have ideas on casting you can share them as well

My favorite part of heat was how smooth shorty tipped her man the feds were watching

Sources tell Nexus Point News that Stephen Graham is next in line from the very select group of actors to be offered a role in the highly anticipated sequel to Heat. Graham has reportedly been offered the role of the younger Neil McCauley, famously portrayed by Robert DeNiro in the first film.
