Bro, we just talked about this in the random thread. People who jump on trends are not to be taken seriously. I used the bye Felicia example. And there are many others. These are people who have personal insecurities and seek out shit to attach themselves to, to fill something....I dunno, I'm not on that shit.

But anybody that literally acts on some outside medium, was looking for something to attach them selves to. That's not the fault of the person who provides it. They are in a legitimate business and have a responsibility to only themselves. They are essentially feeding a need.

These people aren't necessarily influenced by the music as much they are in search of something to validate how they feeling. I can't fault industries and artists for catering to them... These are heavy consumers. I ultimately assign the accountability to the people who consume at a high level

It's still tough for me to sign off on that. Cuz I feel like these people were already in that mindset regardless. They just seek out shit to fit that vibe. It's supplying a demand. It's not just black folks, human beings as a species enjoy partaking in dangerous shit, especially from a safe distance. Violent sports, movies, and music.... It's a need to live vicariously through the medium while not partaking in it themselves.

Niggas love Scarface and good fellas, I'm not expecting them to be gangsters. Odog was a cool character, he should not make you wanna kill people. A catchy song does not influence responsible, accountable people. If it does... You are not being responsible or accountable for your actions. I'm not mad at entertainers or the industry for entertaining people. But those who consume it irresponsibly... They are the problem

Their existence should not limit people from entertaining the masses. It's not their fault those children are in those positions, and those children are not their responsibility. I loved when Dame and Cam were on Bill O'Reilly with that principal.... They hit the nail on the head. THEIR children, were in private schools, and were always taught to recognize that their father's were entertainers.

Yes it's unfortunate that children are in unresponsible environments... But again, that's not the artist fault. And to fault them is not addressing the issue, cuz lack of their music does not improve that child's life. It's more complex than that.

And instead of taking the detailed complex route to find a real progressive solution, people take the blame game approach to an easy target. This rapper makes bad music, they listen to it, blame the rapper. That's lazy and just not being honest imo....

You not saving a kid by making mainstream music positive.

I don't. I just don't feel the need to change the world for them. We have this thought process where we have to remove all triggers. That's not mentally healthy. If you are in therapy, they are not going to tell you to avoid all your triggers like the plague. They are going to condition you to be able to be around them and not let it consume you.

Like I have two brother in laws who went through rehab, and my wife didn't want me to drink around them.. But they both were like, please don't do that. We have to be able to see that and not relapse to be truly be healed. Like if you try to go thru life and never see anyone drink to stay sober..... You're not being realistic. They are showing accountability and strength. And I still don't really do it around them like that cuz I'm mindful.


But I KNOW there are people who have no intentions of displaying that kinda strength.... They will absolutely lose their shit if anyone does anything around then because they will absolutely blame those people for why they relapse. And that's addict behavior.

Catering to that is a chore. Because these people have no accountability.

So it's not that I underestimate it, I just don't like it. So I'm never going to be on the side of changing the music to cater to those who aren't strong enough to see it as entertainment

The problem is there are a lot of people who take the shit seriously. There are a lot of people that aren't just trying to live vicariously and live the bullshit they see for real.

Eh. You're acknowledging there needs to be a solution while simultaneously passing the buck. Impressive but its an all of us issue.

I actually think many kids could have been saved if we nipped the bullshit in the bud after big and pac but these white label execs saw $$$ and doubled down.

I just can't align with that thinking on anything. I feel like the world is a worst place because of it.

The music can be responsibly consumed. Irresponsible consumption is on the user, not the provider. Should we outlaw alcohol next because of its impact on the black community?

I mean...what do you expect people to do? Not make certain types of songs or movies or tv shows because somebody might take it the wrong way? Because people say they want the "balance of the old days" when even in the "old days" people still complained about it. So what is the alternative? Because you can't control how people interpret or take in entertainment. I mean we went after every form of media that people says has a negative or potentially negative influence you're left with nothing because none of it has a clean slate. Shit people even use gospel music to excuse away heinous shit.

I mean some are saying remove the content. Ok. Then what? Is the poverty that exists magically gonna disappear? Are the same parents who let their kids hear Spend Dat all of a sudden going to be better parents?
