IF the Knicks sweep and win this chip and the 2 Jay Z concertd is like two weeks after that.........you're not going to be able to tell NY niggas shit for at least a year.

A year? Try 25, 30

Idk if yall know any Knicks fans in real life but I've never seen a group of people talk more shit than NY fans in general.
Can't tell them a gotdamn thing

The world is not ready for a Knicks championship lol

Wemby just needs to stfu and get in the paint big man. And for that he just needs to put on muscle. He'll be fine. Still the most gifted 22 year old to ever be in the league. Just needs more footwork in the post and the power to back mfers down.

I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously but what makes it funny is that it's true. Half of basketball fandom still refuses to give LeBron the 1A position because Jordan doesn't have Finals L's on his resume.

The humor in it is that no matter how close to the Moon and Stars Wemby gets in his career, there will always be someone that says, "yeah but that first finals."

lol That's not the only reason people don't put Lebron over MJ, but ok.

Chuck has been getting cooked for his lack of rings ever since he first set foot on the NBA on TNT set, despite making it to the Finals. Tracy McGrady was battling playoff narratives while he was still in his prime. Melo's All Star jacket patches were a running joke for years, not because of Twitter, but because Twitter simply latched onto something that was already part of NBA discourse. With Ewing we talk about how he never won it, not that his teams made it twice. CP3 lost the finals and the jokes started running about bruh never gon taste it again. Dirk gets credit for having one of the greatest Finals wins of all time and people still bring up losing the first one to D-Wade.

The pundits do it. But the players themselves do it to each other. It just is what it is.

Hell, the Knicks are up 2-0 right now and people are already trying to diminish Brunson's contributions, as if the attention he's drawing isn't the primary reason the rest of the team is getting so many opportunities to thrive. That's how these conversations have always worked. Social media didn't create them—it just amplified them.

Let's not nitpick undeniable truths to skrt around the larger point. I don't understand why we're acting like this is not a thing. No one claimed it to be the right thing. But it's a thing.

Rings are absolutely one of the things that delineate what Stars go on what tier when it comes discussions about greatness. You're right. That's undeniable. That has nothing to do with what was said though. You said:

That is untrue. MJ being 6-0 is not the sole reason people have him ranked over Lebron. So that doesn't really support your larger point. I kinda agree with you on the larger point, but at the same time most people rank Lebron 1 or 2 all-time and he got swept his first Finals and then shit the bed his second Finals. So a bad run for Wemby might be overlooked as long as he puts up some good runs after.

Fair enough but you can’t vacuum view my statement. That was in response to an already established discussion. But even that aside why else is MJ still placed over Bron by some?

Is it longevity? No.
Is it stat totals? No.
Is it court IQ? No.

Anything that you pull out of the air isn’t going to outweigh how many people hold the Finals against Bron.

First and foremost, a lot of us watched both play and we just believe he's better. He was a better scorer full stop. He was a better, more consistent defender over his entire career. He's neck and neck with Lebron when it comes to leading in the traditional per game stats, but he's better than Lebron in almost all of the per 48 advanced stats. He's got more accolades (with the exceptions of All Star and All NBA nominations that Lebron stacked up because of more years played). He won with an organically grown team and didn't have to ring chase. He didn't need a super team to win.

Honestly, the GOAT debate is kinda fake. When you actually examine it deeply, it's not really all that close. The only thing that Lebron has over MJ is longevity and nobody gave a shit about that until Lebron's fans started acting like it was the end all be all. Why is his greatness enhanced by him sticking around racking up bulk stats to no end. The prominence of this debate is mostly the result of propaganda (Klutch Mafia) and a lot of people in the discussion being too young to even have seen or remember MJ in action. It's fine to like Lebron more than MJ for any reason, but again, people have way more reasons for putting MJ over him. Only dummies like SAS run around yelling 6-0 like its the ultimate smoking gun.
