The thing with that is that his fans from the last decade have aged and matured, and there’s an expectation (fair or not) that the content matures along with them if he expects to retain their fandom. Instead, the perspectives being pushed have become even more juvenile than they were in his younger years. It’s seemingly gone from emotionally aware to emotionally vapid. Because of that, he’s lost a portion of the older fanbase while pulling in an entirely new generation of younger listeners who haven’t done the homework to compare his current output to what he was doing in his earlier years, let alone to what hip hop was before around 2016ish.

I do agree with @Freeman though, that people have to stay consistent in how they talk about the numbers. But to give some weight to the other side’s perspective, because music consumption is what it is these days, I believe there’s more value in chart longevity than in the sheer number of individual appearances. More than half of Drake’s chart appearances, specifically everything post Scorpion, only lasted a single week on the charts.

I've been trying to stay quiet

I think some criticisms are valid, I think some are silly

At this point, we all over 30. There is an artist that will fit any box you want checked. I think trying to make one artist check all the boxes does you a disservice and keeps you from checking out other people

i.e. I don't look to Drake to check _____ for me. At this point, I know what he does provide and when I'm in those moods, he is an artist I'll check for. I do like when he checks other boxes that I tend to get from other artists, but that's not my expectation of him and it's allowed me to enjoy his music much more at my age.

I'll love a record like "Deep pockets" and then love "2 sexy". I'll love a record like "30 for 30" then love a record like "Landed" and "D4L".

Tl;Dr. Keep the tracks you like, discard the rest

First, heres the the context from that random screenshot from the Durk thread.

Again, you just proved my earlier point about you, even while thinking you had me in some crazy lie. Let me break it down for you since you clearly have some sorta tism or ism.

Someone said Chief Keef released no music since he left Chicago. I and other posters disagreed. Someone posted how many projects he's released since then, and I posted what his last project did and showed it got decent numbers(especially for an indie). Nothing about what was said had anything to do with comparing current streaming records to past album sales records.

Nothing you posted proved i had a different opinion on comparing streaming records now, to past records where people had to buy physical copies, you angry fanned out dork.
