As a massive MJ fan.. legit gonna say listening since I was in the womb, no lies my dad put headphones to my moms pregnant belly and I only reacted positively to MJ’s Off the Wall and Thriller. So no lies told here.
As a fan, I expected this to suck. I stayed away from trailers. I hate the way he looked. It just isn’t MJ but I know you can’t have perfected clones for biopics… but I was blown away tbh.
10/10 movie for me, maybe a bit of a bias
He nails the MJ speaking voice, those little shakes and slight ways he says things was spot on. When he first spoke in the movie I legit out loud said wow.
He really brought MJ’s essence, that childlike innocence. You see it in the Twister scene. He’s shopping for toys and playing with animals; the brothers are growing, into sports and women.
The Bubbles thing.. I seen complained about in here, but that’s Michael. He was in his life from the 80’s til he died. (he did put him in a sanctuary at some point tho)
His performances; that’s not him singing, I think they blended his voice w MJ or it’s just all MJ; either way, it worked. His dances, good. He felt the most Michael when they did Human Nature and his Bad performances.
No one will ever, ever… not even Chris Brown… no one can be buttery smooth like Mike. Everyone else just feels counterfeit. Jafar, I wish had more time to smooth out his stuff… he did good but there’s some stuttering that Mike didn’t have.
Anyways good overall, I’ll take it.
The concerts felt like concerts. I wish I would’ve seen this in imax or whatever. I might go rewatch tbh in imax.
But they felt like an MJ concert. I didn’t expect so much performances and for them to be as long as they were… enjoyed the shit out of every one of em.
If you’re a fan, go see it in the theater. Don’t rob yourself of an experience by sitting at home like a bum.
