Craziest Sample Flip

Mannie Fresh has violated the "Drag Rap" beat every which way possible. Can he make a beat without some part of that shit showing up???
I rather hear that than that nigga swizz lazily shouting/chanting Hey! Hey! GAMETIME every fuckin track.

get him outa here

Cause you not in tune like that, and that's ok

And don't disrespect Mannie with the Drag Rap shit either when that's a staple of Nola bounce music

Trust me, I'm fully aware of that. It's like Pete Rock and horns, Dre and Warren G's "g-funk" abuses, or Erick Sermon and them chunky ass basses he used to use. Back inna day folks used to wonder if they could make beats without those aspects of their signature sound.

Mannie's is bits and pieces of Drag Rap.

I agree

He is first and foremost a DJ that happens to produce

Even though drag rap didn't originate in Nola, it is embedded in the fabric of Nola hip hop

He definitely has a sound but I don't think it's as bad as Swizz sampling everything and still living off money cash hoes

So, as I showed in the Physical Media Thread, I just copped this Roberta Flack album "Chapter Two" earlier today.

Sittin off listening to it and diggin the joints when "Gone Away" comes on and I hear it... shits is wild familiar... Then it hits me:

When you hear it...

Not necessarily a sample, but Toomp did an interpolation of this song. Kinda wonder if it would have hit like it did had they just sampled it.
