The Wu-Tang Clan Has Been Inducted Into The Rock n Roll HOF

How did Outkast get into the rock n roll HOF before Phil Collins

Phill been gettin 💎 plaques since the 80s

I dont understand the process here

This. I actually feel the Rock musicians when they complain about it. It makes no sense calling it the RnR HoF especially when you're now letting non-rock musicians in over actual rock artists.

Fuck them rock musicians and stop this stupid ass talking point.

The 1st goddamn inductees were artist that weren't rock and roll musicians, James Brown, Sam Cooke, and Ray Charles.

Please stop bullshit ass take.

WTF? Are you serious? People love running around talking about "Black people invented Rock." Now you don't want to give credit to the actual Black people that had a hand in doing that very thing? *sigh* I'm not really in an argumentative mood, so I'll just be lazy and let ChatGPT do it's thing.

Was James Brown a Rock and Roll artist?

Yes — James Brown was a Rock and Roll artist**, but that’s only part of the story.

He began his career in the 1950s when Rock and Roll was emerging, and some of his early recordings had strong rock elements. In fact, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its very first class in 1986 — alongside artists like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

Was Sam Cooke a Rock and Roll artist?

Yes — Sam Cooke was considered a Rock and Roll artist, especially during the early part of his crossover career.

He started in gospel music with The Soul Stirrers, but when he moved into pop music in the late 1950s, many of his songs were marketed as Rock and Roll.

Was Ray Charles a Rock and Roll artist?

Yes — Ray Charles is considered a Rock and Roll artist, though that’s not the full picture.

He was one of the foundational figures in the development of rock and roll during the 1950s. His blending of gospel, blues, and rhythm & blues directly influenced early rock musicians.

Is Nas a Rock and Roll artist?

Nas is not a Rock and Roll artist.

He is a legendary hip-hop artist, widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time. His classic debut album Illmatic is considered one of the most important hip-hop albums ever made.

Now they aren't known as Rock artists, but it was different in the 50s. Remember back then the lines between Rock, Blues, and Soul were blurred. A lot of songs those three released were called Rock back in the day. Whether you consider them to be primarily Rock artists now is irrelevant. At the time that Rock was becoming a thing, they were contributing to its development. That's why they were inducted. For goodness sake, Elvis Pressley was called the "King of Rock and Roll" and his whole schtick and most of his catalog came from artists like James Brown. You're just wrong on this one, bro. It's ok.

MF just because some cracks back then labeled them rock don't mean they were.

Sam Cooke was labeled the King of SOUL

James Brown the Godfather of SOUL AND FUNK

You let your yt side show, agreeing with some old rock artists and their thinly veiled racism.

It's not ok. Don't let that shit happen again.

You are calling these old rock artists racist (which they might be, I don't know and don't really care) for not wanting a bunch of Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop artists who've had no part in the Rock genre in the Rock and Roll fame while also dismissing the fact that many of those same old rock artists are the ones that say James Brown and Ray Charles are pioneers of Rock. Make that make sense bruh.

It doesn't matter what labels Sam Cooke and James Brown have. The facts are that they made hit songs that were considered to be Rock in the '50s and they are credited with pioneering the early Rock sound and inspiring later Rock artists. That's why they were inducted into the very first class. People thought their contributions to the genre were just that important. It's weird as hell that you're trying to be pro-black by denying black people their contributions. Don't bother responding to me again until you actually do some research because, with all due respect, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I never denied anything. Don't do that hoe ass bitch shit you do and claim something that's not there.

I know who invented Rock, Black people.

So post those Rock songs by Sam Cooke and James Brown. I'll wait.

Songs like Chain Gang by Sam Cooke and I Feel Good were commonly played on rock stations in the 60s. Would you or I consider either of those rock songs? No. Like I said before, that doesn't matter. At the time, people considered that sound as foundational to Rock. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. You said you're not denying anything but you're clearly in here trying to argue that Cooke, Brown, and Charles don't deserve to be in the RnR HoF off their contributions to RnR. If the racist old rockers wanted them to be there because of how important they were for the development of early RnR, why are you arguing otherwise? If you're not arguing otherwise, and you do agree the Cooke, Brown, and Charles had an impact on early RnR and deserve recognition, what are we doing here?

This all comes down to you not liking me agreeing that a bunch of artists that don't make Rock shouldn't be in the RnR HoF. You're trying to say I'm supporting veiled racism. I'm not. I'm supporting logic. It makes more sense for there to be a general music HoF. If the old white rockers are racist, so be it. Let them have their thing. We can treat them like they don't exist and embrace the new thing that freely recognizes us.

Sade been perfecting the same 7 songs across multiple albums for 5 damn decades.

Her most unique song in the last 30 years was Immigrant.

So I agree with your first sentence.

I'm not sure about the second sentence though. Are you talking about unique with respect to other music that's out or with respect to her own work? If it's the former then she's had songs like Flower of the Universe and the Big Unknown that don't sound like any other artists in the past 10 years. If it's the latter, then I'd say Soldier of Love is pretty different than her typical stuff.
