Louisiana Is The Latest State To Remove Soda and Candy From Food Stamps

Eating healthy can be more expensive than eating a bunch of junk. While yall might have access to stores that sell healthy foods for cheap there are such things as food deserts in the states
They could have created a law that benefits local markets or healthy companies to build in those areas

Throw some jasmine or basmati rice in with that red beans and rice and it's still healthy.

I just got on jasmine rice, I was off rice for a while, but folks are saying jasmine rice is much better

Man I wish I had snap, my pantry would be full of healthy foods, less sugar.

Suja has this drink, Lemon and Cayenne pepper, Only 15 cals and it's real lemons and cayenne pepper mixed, which regulates blood circulation. Lemons flushes you out, so instead of cokes and sprites, I drink that....if I had food stamps, i'd rack up on them shits..
Low sugar and the sugar that's in the drink comes from the lemons, no (added sugar) and it taste good. It has "stevia" which is sugar but it's attached to the lemon/fiber with water content.

Families would buy a family size of pork chops on food stamps, (we did) instead, that unhealthy shit, would fry them shits in Canola Oil or that other fucked up Oil, Crisco lol...why not buy some mushrooms or a clean fish (which can be hard cuz we love us some catfish, fried hard, that artery clogging shit)

Folks on food stamps can eat clean and have the advantage to do so, laziness and not wanting to eat better is some of their reasonings or hell, maybe not knowing that eating bad (sugar) causing productivity performance.

I think if folks knew better they would do better imo.

Snickers and Hershey bars aint it...shits got over 50 ingredients in them shits with a ton of sugar, along with Added sugar....You adding sugar on top of sugar lol

And the parents wonder why these kids are so dayum bad and can't focus lol

I disagree that its expensive to eat healthy. I believed this at one point as well, and prices do fluctuate between cities. Though it is generally less expensive to cook your own meals than buying premade meals or fast food everyday. SNAP also allows fast food to be purchased, so some parents were just buying their kids burgers and fries every night.

I disagree with this all well. They just closed the 99 cent store in phx. I used to have a ball with 20 -25 dollars in there, Had all my fresh/frozen fruits and veggies and shit for my after workout protein shakes. that shit would last me 2 weeks

I can't drink shit with stevia in it. Its fuckin nasty to me. I just bought pure monk fruit sweetener (no erythritol) hoping I could use it to replace sugar in my morning and afternoon teas and it's just as nasty. I'll stick to two tablespoons of sugar in my tea (I brew it with two tea bags).

Besides, your brain requires glucose to function, which is 50% of table sugar (the other 50% being fructose).

One of the things I've taken to drinking to curb my cravings for pop is sparkling water, either plain or the lightly flavored joints without any sweeteners of any type like Bubly. If not that, I'll take berries and put it in water overnight and drink that during the day.

Fam, I been tellin' folks about how clutch 99 Cents Only was in Phoenix and Vegas. We used to get a lot of our produce there for dirt cheap. I have yet to see another dollar store carry fresh produce like they did.

Lmao yall arguing health benefits of snack food when the point is these mfs could make it so kids arent in poverty and their parents dont have to choose between which types of food they can and cant buy in the first place

We already know that will never happen, so we work from where we are instead of what should/could be.

losing focus of the actual issue and entertaining the idea is how we got here at all. "Oh well maybe they have a point there's too much sugar in there..." keep bargaining with the fuckin enemy when they created the conditions of children having poor nutrition, lackluster schools and developmental environments in the first place smh

Can’t say that I’m mad about this but I can understand both viewpoints. Yeah you don’t want the government dipping their toes in this shit or going overboard with what it can limit but at the same time.. snacks and sodas shouldn’t be a priority if your in need of assistance. Learn to cook more and bake some of those snacks for a fraction of the cost as buying something already made and overpriced.

It’s gonna hit different snack shopping when you gotta use your own cash like the rest of us do. That $8 pack of cookies no longer seems appealing when you’re using your $8. I know I find myself containing my cravings when I look at those bs prices.

I said it before when this was what if scenario that the folks that take advantage of the assistance and sell their food-stamps for cash or grab every snack and 12 pack of soda off the shelf and use that EBT card to pay is gonna ruin it for others it was just a matter of time.

None of this will change until people are 100% willing to become the next Luigi and start knocking off these CEO's and assorted other executives. Once there's blood in the streets on a large scale over our conditions, they'll be willing to make change. Until then: we work from where we are instead of what should/could be.

Fam you don't get any luigis without being on code about the enemy and the issue. We supposed to reject these mfs outright instead of seeing their point. Fuck is we tryna silver line with them when they want us dead

Everybody ain't gotta be "on code"; just few folks need to be fed up enough to get their hands dirty for the greater good.

More ppl gotta be on code than ppl willing to get their hands dirty. Cuz in the event someone does get their hands dirty we need ppl to hold the line and not fold for a reward like shorty who saw luigi at McDonald's. If we dont have a collective mindset about who the bad guys are and know to not entertain their bullshit, whatever comes next falls apart. Arguing about how much sugar is in a tootsie roll aint helping nobody but them.
