COMING SOON Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls (8/6)

I hope this game is nothing like DBFZ. I never even bothered to pick that game up. It looked good, but there seemed to be no variety in gameplay. MvC was more than just long combos.

While 4v4 seems cool I wonder how many characters this game is going to have? If you are going to balance fighters and have different move sets that’s a lot of characters to develop for

This might be closer to DBFZ than GG strive

Whoever in secret wars probably gonna be in this game.

That's the problem. UMvC3 had 50 characters. I think that was a good roster size for a 3v3 game. This game is 4v4, so you'd think it would have more, but it's probably going to have about half of that many when it drops. Which means its going to feel like everyone is using the same characters for a while.

I just hope the characters feel distinct. The reason I never picked up DBFZ is because just looking at it, it seemed like every character played the same.

The characters in DBFZ definitely didn’t play the same but the issue was moreso there was an auto combo system for the most part so it led to samey gameplay

I actually would’ve preferred if this game had about 16 characters with incredibly diff move sets and was 1 V 1

Then idk another 12 characters get added over time

But who knows maybe I won’t mind it

I think it's relative. If you are a DBFZ player, you understand the differences between the characters enough to say they are not the same. As someone who's just observed matches, I don't think the differences are super significant. Ryu and Akuma are different characters from each other in MvC3. I can believe there are characters in DBFZ that are comparable to that level of different. I'm pretty sure there are no characters in DBFZ as different as Ryu is from Phoenix Wright. And that's the thing. You need that level of variation to make a 50 character roster interesting.

I agree with you though. I would have preferred they go 1v1 or 2v2 or do like Tekken Tag where you could do both.

Videl incorporates Gohan into her moveset so she plays nothing like any other character except Android 18

I’m just going to say you’re wrong about the characters playing the same overall but it’s cool

But where I agree is if they add a bunch of characters they are going to have to play the same because there’s no way you can make diverse move sets and play styles for that many players and that’s why I don’t like the 4 v 4 aspect

Ah well

The bold is not true. Again, UMvC3 had 50 characters and that roster was diverse.

The move sets, character sizes/shapes, individual mechanics, movement options, attack properties, etc... all varied wildly in that game. On that game, you could be an experience player then pick up certain new characters and not have a clue on how to even start using those characters. I played that game hundreds of hours and to this day, I couldn't tell you how to use Frank Wright effectively.

Okay fair

DB fighterz didn’t appeal to me cause the matches took too long. I like mvc cause matches can go quick and the damage is high. If you gonna do 4v4 then the damage output needs to be high or most matches gonna be timeouts like how DB fighterz and Tekken vs Sf was when they first came out
