Ty Koncept for seeing what i see... this brother Rubato had the audacity to call me a liar.I see it literally the first of every month. I almost always forget that the 1st-5th is when the grocery store shelves around here end up stripped bare so when I inevitably have to go during that time I always have to remind myself "Everybody's food stamps done came in".
I've been in line behind folks just like what @Based Dave 96 is describing: ALL the frozen pizzas, burgers, breakfast sandwiches, etc. ALL the Kraft Mac and Cheese, mad Lil Debbie and Hostess snacks, super sweetened boxes of cereal, and so much other shit but nary a bag of fruit in the cart, not even them apple and orange mixed bags and no fresh veggies at all, not even oatmeal. Might have some canned veggies here and there, but by and large a cart full of bullshit.
And I see it every... single... month.
Tomorrow is the first of June, if I end up going to the store (and I'm pretty sure there's something missing from my dinner plans for tomorrow so I'll have to), I'm guaranteed to see it.
don't be a smartass.Correct
You’re*
What you think about the point I made about shelf life? How many healthy foods last a month? How often do you shop when buying healthy? Would weekly payments instead of monthly possibly change purchase habits?
you in your feelings.....Koncept basically agreed with what i said... i didn't hear you call him a liar like you did Based Dave. What does that mean to you? You think they’re making different choices than they would with their own money?
Don’t be a dumbassdon't be a smartass.
His post was more general but you made up a specific scenario. And I think both of yall are assuming as far as payment method.you in your feelings.....Koncept basically agreed with what i said... i didn't hear you call him a liar like you did Based Dave.
People in general will spend 'other peoples' money more carelessly than their ownWhat does that mean to you? You think they’re making different choices than they would with their own money?
It's been decades but I used to work in a grocery store bagging groceries and I've seen this happen consistently just as he described.Restricting purchases is the wrong approach to change that
And I don’t actually believe that’s happened to you. You saw what was in their cart and also their method of payment? You visually scanned $800 of groceries without missing anything?
This is an imaginary scenario (a talking point) that keeps getting repeated online
that nigga Rubato owes me Based Dave a public apology. It's been decades but I used to work in a grocery store bagging groceries and I've seen this happen consistently just as he described.
Except one or two (yes sometimes two) shopping carts full of food didn't cost $800 back then
His post was more general but you made up a specific scenario. And I think both of yall are assuming as far as payment method.
For the record I disagree with the premise from both of yall
nothing.....is the correct answer...because they should be able to purchase everything edible...havent been on food stamps since I was a kid living with my parents but I dont understand trying to monitor what others purchase....if you giving money to eat then let them eat what they want.
once you give you someone money to or just anything in general it is theirs to use as they see fit.. if you want ask should the end ebt then thats a different question altogether.
And you have people that sell their food stamps as wellBig difference between giving somebody money as a gift, work done or money owned versus giving somebody EBT for assistance. So yeah there should be some restrictions. You’ll have the ones that use it and shop wisely and stretch that money out, then you’ll have the other that will spend it loosely since it’s not their money.. hostess cakes and soda galore.
And you have people that sell their food stamps as well
Yea I dont think anyone here is against it being used for ppl that really need it but the post saying "once u give someone money it's there's to do what they want with it" is kinda crazy if u taking it from taxpayers then telling them they have no say in how it's restrictedYep and that’s another issue itself.
Might sound like those of us that say yeah their should be limitations are haters and need to mind their business but most of us struggle to keep groceries on the tables with todays prices but manage to do it without EBT. Its the one that take advantage of it that messes it up for the others.
