Official Wrestling News Thread

As PWInsiderElite.com has covered over the past several days, next week WWE’s Liv Morgan will be officially announced as taking part in a major Hollywood film. Morgan referenced the film and her need for time off during last night’s Raw.

To end speculation that has already begun, Morgan is not involved in Avengers: Doomsday, which began filming this week.

In fact, sources within Hollywood have confirmed to us that the project is not a superhero film, but rather a major dramatic role. One source described Liv landing the role as “one of the most impressive ‘gets’ imaginable,” and noted that when the studio involved is revealed — along with the caliber of talent both on screen and behind the scenes — it will be clear just how prestigious the project is. Another contact described it as the kind of opportunity that “could cement” Morgan as the next “it girl” in Hollywood if she and the project hit as internally projected.

In speaking with sources in the entertainment world, the film has been compared to Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Raid, and Anora. Two of those three films have won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in recent years, in addition to numerous other Oscars. So, if that is the case, we are talking about a film backed by a major studio that also has some great creative minds involved.

For those asking whether this means Morgan will be gone for an extended period, a key detail may be that she is now represented by Paradigm, which also represents CM Punk, among others. Punk was able to film a television series for SyFy and a feature film last year without missing any major WWE television or pay-per-view appearances. Much of that work took place during the Drew McIntyre feud.

We are told that all sides — the talent, WWE, the film & TV projects, and Paradigm — are working closely to coordinate schedules, preserve WWE storylines and continuity, and ensure all stakeholders (the talent, WWE, and outside projects) are aligned. The goal is to make the process far smoother than in past eras. The days of Roddy Piper walking away from WWF to film They Live are over.

Instead, all parties are collaborating on developing opportunities that do not remove stars from WWE’s orbit, but rather expand WWE’s star power and prestige within the broader entertainment industry. Rather than allowing conflicts between WWE and Hollywood projects, the focus now is on collaboration, with the aim of growing WWE’s brand footprint.

So, who could be next after Punk and Morgan? All signs point to Drew McIntyre. For months, we've heard that McIntyre — also repped by Paradigm and recently announced as the new face of Project Rock — is lined up for a major film role. He may very well be the next WWE talent to break into large-scale film or television work.

Stay tuned.

One, John Doe 6 from Mississippi, says he met Phillips in 1988 when he was 11 or 12 years old. After a July 1989 house show, Doe 6 was told he had to stay in a hotel room with Patterson. There, he says he was given alcohol while Patterson watched pornography before forcing him to engage in sexual activity.

Some of Doe 6’s testimony supports the case’s assertion that the McMahons had knowledge of the abuse by showing how widespread knowledge of it was. From Thurston’s report for Post:

In a separate alleged incident, in a WWF dressing room in Maine, Doe 6 claims he was grabbed in the crotch by wrestler Koko B. Ware with many other witnesses present, including Phillips, Patterson, ring crew member and later ring announcer Tony Chimel, and referee Danny Davis.
“In front of everyone else in the room, Koko B. Ware told John Doe 6 to get against wall [sic], pushed John Doe 6’s head against wall [sic], patted him down, and then grabbed John Doe 6’s crotch.” ...
The updated lawsuit states that most others in the room laughed, except Chimel, who “said something like, ‘don’t do that, let him go.’” Chimel later told Doe 6 that he shouldn’t be on the ring crew and that he should run away, according to the complaint.
Doe 6 also shares a story about wrestling in the ring with a teenage Shane McMahon, who was injured. The supposition appears to be the McMahons had to know about ring boys since their son was hurt interacting with them.

Alot of people within WWE were legitimately surprised when Zelina Vega won the United States Women's Championship this past Friday, PWInsiderElite.com can confirm. We are hearing that the title switch was kept pretty quiet and most talent watching backstage had no idea the title was being flipped until the three count.

There's been a warm reaction to Rusev's WWE return internally. We are told a lot of talent have voiced interest in working with him down the line.

For those planning to travel to New Jersey for Summerslam weekend, a source at the American Dream Mall, which is right near Metlife Stadium, has told PWInsider that Fanatics will be holding an event there over Summerslam weekend, so that's where all the WWE meet and greet and photo-ops will be.

Speaking of Summerslam, some parts of ringside being sold as part of luxury packages are in the $32,000 range.

The Eric Bischoff-Hulk Hogan tease is "sports-project" according to one source.

Hulk Hogan felt sure he was onto something.

After watching the NCAA Division I wrestling championships, he was absolutely certain.

Hogan is one of the most popular professional wrestlers of all time, and he stayed in that lane until his teenage stepson pulled him into watching freestyle wrestling. After becoming more familiar with it, Hogan started to believe the sport could become more popular and profitable with the right promotion.

Remember….

He use to train with Pride Fighters yet needed to be educated on Freestyle collegiate wrestling….

Like I said. A podcast where hogan is allowed to just talk will be supremely entertaining and will likely have him indicted before it’s canceled.
