Prominent Actor Taraji P. Henson breaks out crying mid interview when discussing her financial situation and pay she receives as an accomplished actor

Thanks for yet another scintillating contribution to the topic.
I'm picking my thread battles. Blackrain, inori, chi and tayboo have articulated my thoughts very succinctly and look at the hell y'all still giving them.

thanks bruv

There’s bullshit in there but I appreciate the effort

Play with them, not him

Nigga he know, he was @ .... and he already laught at the shit

See you showing your coon behavior even more... can't address shit by yourself had to run behind you coon sergeant.
You're wrong, I've been standing on this since yesterday all by myself. All y'all full of it if you think it's wrong to say she shouldn't take a job that she feels isn't giving her what she feels she's worth. None of you would take a job you feel isn't paying you what you're worth.

It's funny how I've asked multiple times would you take a gig that's not paying what you feel you deserve, that's telling

I think as black people familiar with her work, have seen a lot of it. We hold her in high regard because she’s been in movies in which a black actress was needed. I’m not against her getting paid, but has she tried getting roles not intended to be roles for TPH. Yall joke when I says shit about Bookeem Woodbine, but bro take chances and takes roles that weren’t intended for what people know Bookeem Woodbine for.

Does shit that’s out of place, there ain’t but so many movies and shows they gonna need a moderately attractive sista girl character.

maybe her issue isn’t industry as much as it is what she allows herself to do to maintain the brand that’s in her mind.

I be seeing other roles women have and it doesn’t even seem like the character has a steep basis in race, and I always wonder why some of these sistas ain’t taking these roles. I used to think it was the industry till I started seeing foreign black female actors and actresses doing these roles.

Maybe her obsession with per perception is a bigger part of her money problem.

Is she rumored to be hard to work with?

That’s a question not a statement and I’m already in the coon thread.

Can’t be nominated twice.

This is not how the entertainment business works. And when someone makes a claim about pay especially someone like Taraji, she is not blindly making that statement.

Let me say this, Tyler Perry Studios is the only African American is outright owns a studio and it's the biggest in the US. And this just happened in 2019. The only way to get through Hollywood is by dealing with studios ....white people

So for yo monkey ass to sit up here and diminish what she is doing and not understanding why or what real roadblocks are there is crazy.

To say oh well if she didn't like it she should just quit... if all black had that mentality , you nor me would be freely typing on this forum

Now I do support quiting and making your own way. Which in some ways she has done. And I would like if all the major black actors and actresses, producers and etc came together and on creating an entertainment system that excluded these white Hollywood roadblocks

Sit this one out Freud

mahershala ali don’t just take typical left over from Denzel rejecting nigga roles. He’s done a litany of characters and now is on the verge of possibly having a franchise with blade.

Sometimes we get in our own way fam, TPH is like a kang variant when it comes to the same kind of black female actress out here. Do something different and carve out a niche away from them, you’ll get more roles. You don’t always have to be a leading lady

I feel I am deserved a 7 figure salary if not more.... I don't have a 7 figure job right now. So yeah I have taken a job below my believed worth and proved skill set.

For me I am wanting to be more entrepreneurial and value my time more, because with a higher paying job there is more responsibility.

But this is just my personal story

Movie roles don't work the same as your work from home job my guy

What’s taraji’s value though?

How do we know she’s underpaid?

Underpaid in relation to who?

She isn’t a big time star lead actress who brings in money like that so how can I for sure agree with her?
The movies she's been in have brought in a little over 2 billion in revenue. Again she has been nominated for an Oscar, an Emmy, and won a Golden Globe. Having that on your resume especially as a black woman raises your value otherwise studios wouldn't use those accolades as a marketing tool when it comes time to promote another film.

She said that she's underpaid. Actors just got done striking due in part to being underpaid. I don't think that it's a big leap to believe her.

Smokin Aces

This is an asinine argument. You make 37k a year. You think you're worth that?
I make more than that and I'm not complaining, I'm cool and if I wasn't I would ask for a raise and if that didn't happen I'll go and find me a gig that pays more. But that's just me, it seems like you would be content constantly begging and being cool with them saying no
