Prominent Actor Taraji P. Henson breaks out crying mid interview when discussing her financial situation and pay she receives as an accomplished actor

You’re naming a franchise and or books that have a following regardless

Clueless was a group of women
T&L cmon bruh. Didn’t bring in big money

Break each one down and your get your answer.

You really got Barbie, Harley Quinn, Tomb Raider, and Twlight on there. I’m fucking dying laughing at you naming them.
Those were all very well known movies and franchises starring white women, regardless of source material. I don’t even know why a previous following matters. Even so, still none of those types of roles for blank women, previous following or not.

But let’s keep blaming TPH for why this is.

You’re being dishonest in this conversation regarding the movies you name.

I can name the movie black panther having a woman lead being successful but that success comes from the franchise itself and not the actor just like the movies you name

In Twlight alone everybody stats that the lead woman actor is worse part of the movies but folks flocked to see them because of the franchise itself

Margot Robbie, Jamie Pressely, and Emma Mackey all look exactly alike and regardless who would have played Barbie, the movie would have had folks going to the movie because of what Barbie represents for decades

I can go on and on.

At the end of the day she accepts whatever they pay her so her crying about not making more is all on her, don't accept the role if you think they're low balling you. That goes for all these actors who be complaining about salaries to the public when they still making millions more than the average person.

But again regular Black Americans complain about being underpaid we know for fact our entertainers are also underpaid. Yes they have more than me but we all being done dirty. And it’s not that easy to just build your own shit. Tyler Perry built his but it’s been 15 years or so and heavy criticism in the beginning for cooning. Taraji can’t just make BET and I guess it’s f all the black actors took a stand something could be done but would we support it? Would our support be enough.

...so what's the solution?

Have Black American families with good jobs, stability, high education and decent to above average wealth levels so Black American children won't sit around, watching TV and social media, hoping to become famous in order to make it out of a fucked up situation.

They become highly compensated and specialized employees, and transition to create businesses like multi-media companies, social media platforms, and consumer technology companies. Some of these survive, some of them don't, some get acquired, some thrive on their own.

You run this simulation a couple of times over the course of 25 to 100 years, you'll end up with movie and TV studios, production companies, talent agencies ran by Black Americans.

This will require us being good at politics and being able to secure goods jobs and good education for ourselves because you can't really make good art that people are willing to value and cherish without it lol.

The suggestion that a Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actress just get up and make their own production company, write her own movies and then director them in order to have a fair salary just shows how much we don't understand how the world actually works lol.

Taraji P. Henson did her job, she became a great actress despite spending most of her career in shit TV shows and movies. We didn't do our job of advocating for and winning concession elves so when our creative class does move out in the world, they actually some shit to actually work with instead of crawling at the bottom for years, having to play catch up in salary.

Lol, like there's a reason why Ryan Coogler is stuck making shitty franchise movies instead of writing his own shit, it doesn't fucking pay. Every half-assed decent director is making franchise movies now since Hollywood is obsessed with overseas money.

Yeah that sounds good and all...but HOW do you actually make that happen?

A good part of the solution is something missing in some of these responses which is not only having accurate information instead of believing every actor gets paid millions for a role that they just play around with, alot of actors don't make millions at all, and also just basic human empathy to not want to see people get fucked over. The whole "well they make more than me so fuck em" mentality is what people in power depend on to keep the system running the way it is. And it's worked for a very long time in this country.

Like I said before, Black Panther having a black woman lead was circumstantial due to the death of the intended black male lead.

Since you stuck on this narrative that white women’s only leg up on black women is due to them getting roles on the backs of existing franchises, why don’t you name a black woman that’s given even those opportunities? You telling me there’s not an existing successful franchise that can star a black woman? Or one that can’t be adapted to be led by a black woman?

Taraji's resume is good enough to where she should be getting M's per movie role and at least 750k an episode for Empire alone

Whether her team can't manage or hollywood jerked her is something she gonna have to prove with more than tears tho

She must not be with a major agency or anything.
