Sometimes being the hero means saving the villain.
No that's me just being annoyed by extra ass behaviorIt does otherwise you wouldn't give a shit bout what somebody else is doing over a movie.

You can't be this dense.you keep saying define them
and the fact that you've said it numerous times over the span of 70+ pages is something i dont get but,
WHO is letting this movie define them?
what do you mean by define? lets start there
fam, thats not something that defines someoneYou can't be this dense.
Literally every person in praise of this movie is talking about how much pride and how much they connected with the film. Like look at literally any positive review and folk are saying they feel we're all from Wakanda

so b/c it didnt happen to Du, then you dont see how these things have impacted people?I'll give DL some credit. Those are strong points, but things effect different people in different ways.
I was a child watching boyz n the hood definitely had an impact, but it was not for the worse. I related more with young tre, I was a kid. So I can't agree that movie made my community worse .In fact I haven't seen the effects of any movie making my community worse.
Maybe I don't see the parallels he does, but he's also much older than me, and likely lived in a different community.
However I do not agree any of those movies made our communities worse.
I though the message in boyz in the hood was not to follow your friends when they doing bad things.... That's what my uncle and Mom told me.
I thought nino brown was the clear bad guy and crack was horrible.
I never even liked Scarface and thought it was horrible.
So my personal opinion does not line up with dl's opinion.
I don't see how those movies made anyone or any communities worse off.
I feel like as always folk looking for external things to Blame for internal issues.... If I was talking to him id disagree

I love my baby mother, I'll never let her goYou can find thousands of post where black men are talking about jumpoff and side pieces... hating their "baby mamas" but would that be representative of the whole lot as far as family values accountability and responsibility goes......
:ooo:
I love my baby mother, I'll never let her go
I'm saying he's over empathizing the influence of these things..so b/c it didnt happen to Du, then you dont see how these things have impacted people?
c'mon man, the world is bigger than Baltimore
i dont wanna assume anything b/c you said you not really into tv like that or whatever, but there was a time when MTV Cribs was on when EVERY rapper had a poster of Scarface on the wall...yes, the movie was horrible, but for some reason, people wanted to feel connected to him
DL's point was we ALL at some point are influenced by different forms of media from fashion to slang. You not exempted from that no matter how hard you trying to convince people you are.
I'm saying he's over empathizing the influence of these things..
It's no different than when people blame rappers for the drug culture of the youth.
The accountability should not be placed on art imitating life
nah fam ....u was saying lets give Zoe Saldana a chance ....everyone else was saying she was an awful castAt some point y'all Niggaz need to ask y'all selves why y'all keep going back n forth with me if I'm so wrong and misguided.
This ain't the first hill I died on...I never will forget how y'all tried to say a black woman shouldn't play Nina Simone cuz she was too pretty
