OPINION Is Marvel's Black Panther movie really a "special moment" for Black America??

So the movie inspired you to do something, one way or another.

:cont:
Naw the movie did nothing for me.

Yet seemed to impact every one else.

And I couldn't make the connect.

So I figured maybe I didn't belong and did my own thing for a minute.

a lot of people got saved after watching Passion of the Christ too

but i bet that dont mean nothing b/c according to Du/5th letter logic, if it took a movie for you to get saved, then you was going to hell anyway

Like I said, I felt nothing.

I was in my early 20's and thought maybe something was wrong with me...

I just can't get emotionally connected to movies like that.....

Maybe I'm not as impressionable as others.

I don't go to the movies looking for life changing experiences.

I guess others do.... Maybe that's what this is all about....

And you are doing a horrible job at using my logic to prove your points

you doing too much man lol

my point is, inspiration comes in many forms

lets use church as an example

some people get saved by conventional methods, e.g. alter call, evangelism, etc...

some people get saved by movies...Passion of the Christ, TD Jakes movies, Tyler Perry, etc...

the point is, they made the decision to give their lives to Christ. Why does it matter how the message was delivered

Now to bring it back full circle b/c i dont wanna turn this into a religion discussion. Some people will get exposed to africa by more traditional methods...primarily, word of mouth...but there is a large population that might get influenced by cinema/TV, music, etc...

WHY DOES IT MATTER TO YOU WHAT MADE THEM WANT TO RESEARCH FURTHER???

I'll like to see these guys try to rebuke this....

Nigga..... It's a fucking discussion. That's what we come here to do, discuss shit.
I didn't even start the thread..I just offered my opinion on an already going on conversation. People have conflicting opinions.... That's life...

Everybody emotional triggers are different.

And Movies just don't touch me like that, and it seems strange to me when folk profess that kind of attachment to a movie.

And I'm a person who loves good movies....I just don't place them that high.

There's not a movie in the world I would cosplay for. I'm not that invested. Not a movie in the world I would pay twice to see. In fact if I find a good bootleg I wouldn't hesitate to watch bp at work. Shit more of a DC fan and I saw wonder woman online like months after the fact, and just saw Justice league online the other day.

While I love comic book movies, it's not that big of a deal to me personally.

I feel like the folk who are making a bigger deal than me about it are mostly folk who are in to comics even less than me, and are just jumping on a trendy band wagon. That's shit I consider corny and disingenuous. So I spoke my mind.

This whole thread started cuz some of us feel Niggaz was placing too personal significance on a simple comic book movie. While I'll concede to it not being a simple movie, I still feel like too many people are letting this shit define them.

OBVIOUSLY I'm in the minority here, but that doesn't make me feel any less about my opinion

In fact I acredit the longevity of this thread to folk trying to justify their overreacting with more over compensation.

Just my thoughts. Hate it or love it, Imma speak my mind.

As someone who routinely places their foot in their mouth and argue with the whole board on even more trivial shit I'm amazed you don't understand.

you keep saying define them

and the fact that you've said it numerous times over the span of 70+ pages is something i dont get but,

WHO is letting this movie define them?

what do you mean by define? lets start there

I'll give DL some credit. Those are strong points, but things effect different people in different ways.

I was a child watching boyz n the hood definitely had an impact, but it was not for the worse. I related more with young tre, I was a kid. So I can't agree that movie made my community worse .In fact I haven't seen the effects of any movie making my community worse.

Maybe I don't see the parallels he does, but he's also much older than me, and likely lived in a different community.

However I do not agree any of those movies made our communities worse.

I though the message in boyz in the hood was not to follow your friends when they doing bad things.... That's what my uncle and Mom told me.

I thought nino brown was the clear bad guy and crack was horrible.

I never even liked Scarface and thought it was horrible.

So my personal opinion does not line up with dl's opinion.

I don't see how those movies made anyone or any communities worse off.

I feel like as always folk looking for external things to Blame for internal issues.... If I was talking to him id disagree
