WhoBorrowed: Flow

iight here's some examples of jay using chris flow....

and listening to chris, you can hear the influence...

i'm not as good at this... but i feel there's more examples.. it's just tough to go through jay shit cuz of tidal....

some of them will come to me later.... but if you listen to jay during blueprint 1 & 2 and black album....dude flow was very similar to how chris spits on a lot of hist shit

considering jay didn't always flow like that, and by the time kingdom come came he was on some other shit...

mean while chris always ha the same smooth flow....

i think it's safe to say, jay was heavily influenced or..... was biting off the youngin

I was hoping you'd drop "Full Effect"... that's one of the best examples of it... plus he killed that shit...

I feel like you can hear his influence on "It's on" w/ Beans also...

I forgot this song. Just listen to Chris flow on this shit, and then think of a lot of Jay's post 2004 work.....

I think it may be coincidence, as I believe both rappers kinda dropped around the same time and there was no Internet back then, but I always thought Mad Skillz had a Big L sound to him at times, both liked/like a punchline, but more so voice and the pronouncing of words rather than flow....

Think most people agree Mase birthed a whole style and flow... Not many can say they birthed an actual whole style...

I see alot of Kool G Rap Pun, Vinnie Paz and Necro...

I've been trying to find examples of Kanye using Ma$e's flow... I know he would do it from time to time... maybe someone more familiar with his catalog can be of assistance...

I think when you listen to Kanye's first album you hear more of Ma$e's style, then after his 2nd I think he kinda change his flow/pattern and then jumped on the whole new mumble rap flow... I guess one reason of him using Ma$e's style, ironically like 50, was down to their injuries!!!

Word, I meant Ma$e's catalog... i was listening to a track awhile back and remember being surprised how much Kanye used pretty much verbatim...

Artist: Jay-Z
Song: Success feat. Nas
Borrows flow from: Eminem
Example of borrowed flow:

Evidence:
Jay starts the track with: "I used to give a fuck, now I give a fuck less/What do I think of success
/It sucks too much to stress"
Which is paraphrased from Eminem rapping: "I used to give a fuck, now I could give a fuck less/What do I think of success? It sucks, too much press"
Biting or giving props: I like to think he's giving props...

Artist: Youngbloodz
Song: Damn
Borrowed flow from: Andre 3000
Example of borrowed flow:
Evidence: "You got to give a damn if you do not give a fuck, ha!"
Is switched to...
"If you don't give a damn, we don't give a fuck"
Biting or giving props: TBD... Youngbloodz collaborated with 3000's partner in rhyme Big Boi with "85" implying respect for the legendary duo, but making a hit using such obscure bars, it's easy for the casual fan not to know the origin of this catchy hook...
