The easiest way to explain it is I'm very selfish with my time. We all know you can't be like that in a relationship. And have kids. And I had mad freedom away home yet I would still come back home and wanna be by myself.

Yeah I can certainly understand that. I’m a loner but my desire for a family unit supersedes that because I never had that and it was always my dream.

My wife just doesn’t understand the sacrifices I make to keep shit tight, lol. I’m so good by myself it’s crazy. I was single for a long time before we settled down and I look back on that time with fond memories, lol. It gets to the point where sometimes I’ll just tell her yo, I need some alone time. I’ll just watch the game or Netflix or just vibe out to music with some good bourbon by myself.

At some point the desire for the relationship will supersede your selfishness and you’ll make it right.

Funny shit is, you’ll find exactly that, but you’ll fall in love with her and want a real relationship and she won’t be ready to reciprocate. And she’ll be the only one you want but at that point you can’t have her.

I think it was pure timing for me. I’ve always wanted a family but I knew I wasn’t going to do that while in college. Unfortunately for the women I was fucking with they didn’t know that. Fortunately for my wife, we had known each other since middle school and we just so happened to hook back up right after college. The timing couldn’t have been any better for us because I was ready and she was familiar, which was something I wanted in a wife.

I will say though as far as the ones I was toxic with, I always told them I wasn’t looking…hold up, nah I didn’t tell them right out that I wasn’t looking to be in a relationship, lol. I never told them I wanted one either though. My actions though probably suggested I was willing to go that route, hence the serial monogamer term. I’d treat them like they were the only one because at that point in time, they were.

My advice, just play hard to get and be on the lookout for red flags. Never love them more than they love you until you know for sure they want you for good. And maybe be on the lookout for good men you might not typically go for and find ways to love them if you know they’ll love you like no other.
