BBC 'axe' Trevor Sinclair as Match of the Day pundit after he was caught drink driving then called a police officer a 'white c***'

Former England footballer Trevor Sinclair has been axed as a Match of the Day pundit after calling a policeman a 'white c***' before urinating in a police car after he was caught drink driving.

The 44-year-old, asked the officer if he was being arrested because he was black and accused the police of racism, Blackpool Magistrates' Court heard today

Sinclair, who has represented anti-racism campaign Show Racism The Red Card, continued being racist after he was taken to the cells at Blackpool Police Station.

A BBC spokesperson said: 'He is a freelance broadcaster. We currently have no scheduled plans to use him on our programmes.'

The former footballer, of Lytham, Lancashire, pleaded guilty to drink driving and a racially aggravated public order offence today and was given 150 hours community service and a 20-month drink drive ban.

Nick Freeman, representing Sinclair, said the 'catalyst' for his behaviour that night was being subjected to racism, in front of his family, while out having a meal hours earlier.

Mr Freeman said a woman had approached the father of four, patted him on the head and called him a 'little chocolate man'.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, told the court that, at around 8.45pm on November 12 last year, police were alerted to an incident at Sinclair's home address but were told he had left in his Tesla car and he may have been drinking.

Patrols were out looking for him and found his car stopped in the middle of the road in Clifton Drive, Blackpool, after Sinclair had been in collision with a woman who had stepped into his path after getting out of a taxi.

In a statement read to the court, Pc Gareth Evans said: 'I asked Mr Sinclair what had happened. It appeared to me he was drunk, unsteady on his feet and his eyes were glazed.'

Sinclair was given a roadside breath test and was found to be twice over the drink-drive limit, giving a reading of 72 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, with the limit being 35mg.

Nick Freeman, representing Sinclair, said: 'He's totally appalled at his behaviour. He's embarrassed, genuinely contrite and first and foremost would like to apologise to Pc Evans. He accepts police were not racist towards him.'

Sinclair, who was a winger, played for Manchester City, West Ham and England during his 16-year career.

Honestly fuck him! I remember when the story initially broke out he was crying foul and how he was arrested because he was black. Turns out he was drink driving smh! This is type of shit that makes real racists look at us like "oh he's playing the race card", no different in impact to those crying wolf on rape for real victims. And lol @ that BS of I was patted on my head and called "little chocolate man" - Mark Lawrenson looking to the camera like "you see this fool right here!"

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan, 25, repeatedly beat and KICKED his mother-of-two girlfriend Rachel Wall in 'prolonged' drunken late-night street attack before Christmas

The 25-year-old, who has also played for England, assaulted Rachael Wall in a 'prolonged attack' that was caught on CCTV.

Flanagan, of Cressington, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to one charge of common assault when he appeared today at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

The attack happened on Duke Street, in Liverpool city centre, at around 3.20am on December 22 as the couple were enjoying a night out.

It was same day Liverpool played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Arsenal at The Emirates but the defender wasn't part of the travelling squad for the game.

Welp! He can pretty much say goodbye to any England international career his has now

Chelsea could make a splash in January by returning to Juventus to sign Alex Sandro, reports the Mirror, though Manchester United are also in the running.

The Blues were knocked back by the Old Lady last summer but failure to commit to a new deal and a dip in form has convinced the Italians to sell.

Antonio Conte could get his man for £50 million, which would put the former Porto star just behind Benjamin Mendy (£52m) as the most expensive full-back of all time.

Alex could transform Chelsea's attacking output down the left side, though Marcos Alonso has chipped in with an impressive five Premier League goals this term. The Spaniard could become an option at centre-back though, having played there for Fiorentina.
