Do You Replace These Items This Often?

Toothbrush - when ever it tells me to change the brush. It's electric

Pillow- It is a tempur pedic. Shit built to last a while. Cost damn near $200 but the best pillow i ever had.

Socks - toss when it gets a hole

Running shoes - toss when the outsole of the shoe becomes smooth.

Keyboard and charger cable - use until it doesnt work anymore

Mattress- just bought a hybrid maybe almost 2 years ago. It has more years in it.

Razor blade - toss after a few months

Toothbrush is electric - replace head around 3-4 months

Pillow - whenever the hell I feel like its time.. the cheaper ones more often but the more pricier ones seem to last way longer

Socks… my work socks generally only last a few months before they start to rip or tears holes in them since I’m constantly slipping in and out of different boots daily depending on the task. My non working socks nope gotta enough of them in rotation where they aren’t getting worn constantly.. toss those mostly when they fade.

Workout shoes - typically every 2 years or longer but I keep at least 2 pairs in rotation where the same pair isn’t getting work back to back days.

Mattress - years until its a necessity and change needs to be made.

Toothbrush: When it stops doing its job
Pillow: When it's stops being comfortable
Socks: When they get a hole in 'em
Running Shoes: Technically I need to change running shoes every six months because if I don't my ankles start acting up. My current pair of Brooks I got in 2024 and my right ankle just started giving me issues as of a week ago so it's about time.
keyboard: When it stops working
Charger Cable: When it stops working
Mattress: When it's uncomfortable
Razor Blades: When it stops shaving properly.

I think a lot of this is to just get people to buy things so companies can keep you buying shit.

The three brands I see the most at the gym being worn by folks 40-ish and up are Hoka, On Cloud, and Brooks. One old-school buddy of mine swears by On Cloud joints and tries to get folks to give 'em a shot. I've been in the hospital every day for the3 last couple of weeks and I've noticed the staff in the same three brands for the most part, but maybe a few more in Hoka than the others. One of my issues with Hoka is they appear to be over padded, and that has me concerned about ankle stability. Too much padding and you have issues feeling the ground when you're running and could cause you to roll your ankle, and at my current 280lbs, that ain't something I ever want to do.
