Sometimes being the hero means saving the villain.

"Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

Watching the first episode.... It's overbearingly mid..... But it's a snow day... So I had to put on something.

I like the idea of it, the execution is bad. The story is bad. The acting is bad, the characters are bad. The cinematography is bad in the sense that it’s a TV show that plays like a movie series.

When you look at all other star treks. They ran for 20 plus episode seasons and many years. It gave them time to tell a story and let characters develop into who the became in relation to who they were at the beginning.

The first episode where the kid that becomes one of the main characters. Lived such a hard and harsh life. Been through so much and maybe days later after he is rescued by the captain. He’s already open to taking orders and being subordinate simply because he was being yelled at.

And why doesn’t star fleet have ships escorting their recruits to earth? Do they not know the have enemies that exist?

Shit asks you to withhold disbelief far too soon. And I get it from a business standpoint. Shit doesn’t get renewed like it used to or run as long as they used to, so they need to rush to plot points.

That’s not what Star Trek fans want. Thats like wanting to hear an Adele album and getting music on the level of Pink. Like, who is this for?

This show was obviously going to be ammo for the culture war. Such an easy target and they should have known better. Who does this even appeal to?

How do you fuck up Star Trek though? The franchise always had diversity and appealed to a wider audience. Even the movies were well received despite some complaining about them being more action oriented (I mean they were movies not a series). That other show they made was one with the black chick from TWD. I would have watched that, but it was on a service I did not have. These companies really do not be getting it sometimes. You had decades of material to be influenced by and still failed smh. I hate that the racists got to use this as ammo to attack diversity.
