The Hawks really did put a good team around Trae going into last season though....


I do think money aside Washington could be a good fit for what he does while covering for his deficiencies

The hawks didn't have enough shooting or lob threats to capitalize around trae. They needed a change and rightfully handed the keys to Jalen Johnson. NAW was great for them tho. Him and okongwu salvaged the season for the hawks.

Washington is definitely a good fit. But they're gonna need davis to fully buy in. Problem is paying trae and him puts the wizards in dangerous territory financially so its gonna be interesting to see how they navigate the situation since Davis is in his "fuck you pay me' era.
They've got athleticism, lob threats, shooters, good defensive length. Definitely a good situation for trae to get his respect back. He got his money so all he has to do is hoop.

I agree 100%

Very expensive team that hasn't done anything yet and has some awkward pieces

Now I will say if Franz is healthy they definitely beat Detroit in the first round and might have even been able to beat Cleveland in the second round

They hired Sean Sweeney from San Antonio who I do like but idk if he was the best fit....I would've went someone more offensive minded

Id love to have him back but we need a real big. That would be a fire pick up for yall. He's nice. Lacks a bit defensively and has some mental lapses missing rotations and easy buckets but I love how fluid he is for his size and his passing touch.

Allen Graves is mamu with defense and rebounding minus the fluidity. People are mad at the pick but I think we hit again.
 
I think some of these moves are being made with expansion in mind


If you’re LV or Sea & there’s gonna be a cap floor and your trying to put some butts in the seats. If Trae don’t work out in Wash they could make him available in expansion draft. Expansion teams could see some incentive of taking on that last year while trying to be competitive and put someone on the marquee.

Well here's my thing with that because I think thats bailing him out too easy

If you're really like that kind of player sometimes you have to be greater than the sum of your parts

That Hawks team was better than the team he took to the conference finals and they may not have had a lob threat but they did have more shooting than Washington does and clearly it was a talented team because they took off after he left(granted some of that was playing a ton of bad teams at the end of the season)

Im very interested to see how things go though and like you said now that he's secured his money

Will Riley shot 31% and Johnson shot 35% last season

Of course that can absolutely be better but they still have to show it

Bub Carrington actually shot 40% on like 6 attempts per game but how many guards are you going to play and do have to defend on the perimeter at somepoint if these guys are going to be playing together


Easily a top 5 most interesting team going into next season
 
Maybe Duren for Jaylen? Not many options for good quality big men that matches what Brown can do on a night to night basis. The other team would have to send some pieces to the Cs to make it work, which they might not be willing to do.
