I don’t think you can quite understand what Kendrick is saying to Drake. You can differentiate between the two if you’re actually listening to the lyrics. Kendrick’s wife doesn’t have a selective Black identity - using Blackness when it’s convenient, and not when it’s for his advantage. There’s something beautiful about someone finding their identity, but if you’re using it for malicious intentions, then there’s a problem. Drake was only Black when it opened doors of opportunity in hip hop for him. It made him more marketable and gained him more relevancy amongst his peers and hip hop fans.

The shit ain’t as deep as people would make it seem. If you roll with black people your whole life and respect the culture the people will respect you.

Maybe mixed kids that are confused go through this but not those confident with their place in the culture.

Not as much as people would think. I’ve never been picked on by black kids…ever. I’ve always been accepted as I was. Maybe because of how I was culturally or maybe because I was respected as a person so was never tried.

And it’s not like I’m some tough guy at all, I just carry myself a certain way.

Maybe some mixed kids are confused but I never was.

So to Gabi’s point, if you raise them a certain way they won’t have any issues.

It’s always the mixed girls that get the most towards them. Dudes not so much.

You’re mixed and I’m all mixed up with light skin parents but I was brown enough skin wise lol. So I didn’t get picked on per se but the jokes was funny.
